The Swan's Song

50 13 7

They thought she was frail,
But she was the strongest she'd ever been
They thought she was frayed,
But she was the brightest they'd ever seen

With a smile on her face,
She bid her goodbyes
After all her struggles,
There was light in her eyes

In her last moments,
She wasn't at her worst
On the verge of leaving,
The times felt like the first

They thought she was gone,
But she hadn't proved them right
For at her end,
She put up a fight

Her lilting voice,
Her mesmerizing song
They'd finally heard her-
After so long

They thought she was weak,
But she enthralled them with her might
Embasked in tranquility,
She became her own light

After years of pain,
She found her cure
She finally succumbed,
To the hardship she'd endured

She sung her woes away,
She dried up their tears
She told them her memory,
Would always be here

After years of silence,
She proved that she was strong
She took her last breath,
At the end of her song.

A/N This poem is based on an old belief that swans remain silent for their entire lives and only sing when they're about to die.
