Surprisingly, I didn’t scream as I fell. Instead I watched the hot rocks in front of me, because they looked kind of cool.
Then I realized that there were still rocks in front of me.
I reached out for one blindly and managed to grab it. I almost pulled away because it burned my hands but I stayed on. I looked down and saw more lava, then to my left and saw a small ledge, just maybe like ten inches wide and three feet long.
I started to move to the left and my foot slipped.
I made a sound like, “meep,” and got my footing again. By the time that I made it to the ledge my hands felt like they were literally on fire and not in the good way, like Katniss.
I pulled myself onto the ledge and looked up. I was about half way down the volcano, but I could still see what was happening from the top.
Marisa was lying on the ground, Liam was running over to her, Harry was attempting to distract Gage and Jean while Liam got Marisa but not doing so well, and Devin was...oh, yeah, he was dead.
The crowd was going wild and I saw a large screen with each of our faces on it. I noticed that my hair looked horrible and reached up for it.
It showed Marisa’s closed eyes, Liam’s face as he ran over to her, Harry breathing heavily and Jean and Gage looking cocky.
“Hello?” I screamed up, “I get that you’re kind of busy but I’m kind of in a volcano here!” The crowd laughed.
I gasped as I saw Jean get Marisa’s knife, which he took, to Harry’s neck.
“LIAM!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
He looked over at me and I screamed, “HELP HARRY!”
He looked over and groaned, ran over to Harry, and kicked Jean in the face. He whispered something to his brother and then nodded and ran back to Marisa, who was now sitting up and blinking.
Harry did a round-house kick and hit Jean, who was getting back up, in the chest and he flew backwards. He punched him in the nose and then kicked him in the back of the knees, causing him to fall facedown into the hot dirt.
I cheered with the rest of the crowd.
All of the cheering stopped when the volcano shook. “What’s happening?” Liam called.
Raven’s face appeared on screen, “Nothing. It’s fine.”
But it didn’t look fine. I looked down and saw the lava bubbling and spurting up and screamed.
That was when I heard feet landing next to me.
I whipped around and almost fell backwards when I saw Harry’s face.
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked, raising my hands. “Now we’re both stuck down here!”
He sighed, “Trying to help you.”
“What? Now Liam and Marisa are up there all by themselves with Jean and Gage and we’re down here and-”
I was cut off when I saw the rope. “Where did you get that?”
    He grinned, “Found it.”
“You want me to climb a rope? What if we both fall?”
“Then we die.” Harry wrapped the rope around his wrist, “But if we stay down here we die for sure.” He looked up, “You go first.”
I looked down again and saw the lava rising. “No, you.”
    “No, you.” He said sharply.
I shook my head, “I was the one that fell down here, you should get to go up first.”
     “Kayla, just go.”
“No.” I crossed my arms, “I jumped out of the plane first. You get to climb up the wall first.”
I think that he realized that he wasn’t gonna win and began to climb up the wall. I went right after him but he climbed a lot faster than me so I was farther behind than I should’ve been.
Harry made it to the top and helped me up as we reached it, and then we both whipped around to see if Liam and Marisa were still alive.

When I sat up and opened my eyes I saw Harry and Kayla climbing out of a volcano with a rope, Jean moaning on the ground, Raven and the crowd backing away, and Gage still trying to fight Liam.
“What did I miss?” I yelled to no one.
“Nothing, but the volcano is going to erupt so we kind of have to get out of here,” Harry said, dragging Kayla behind him.
    “My hands hurt,” Kayla complained.
    “My head hurts,” I complained.
“Okay, we get it, your in pain,” Harry said. “Liam! We have to go! Now!”
“I’m kind of in a situation,” Liam said, dodging Gages swings.
    “Just kill him!” Kayla said.
Harry ran towards Liam and all at once, they kicked the guy in the chest. Gage made a weird screaming noise and I watched as he tumbled down the side of the volcano.
We all turned towards Jean, who was getting up.
“Um...” Jean said, “I think I’ll just...” Then he ran after Gage.
The volcano started making a weird gurgling sound, and I felt the temperature rise like 200 degrees. I didn’t think it could get any hotter.
    “Run!” Kayla shouted.
We sprinted down the opposite side Jean and Gage had, but it was kind of hard cuz it was so steep. I started tripping with every step and thought it would just be easier to roll down the mountain, so I did. Kayla joined me.
“What are you guys doing?” Harry asked.
“Rolling away from lava,” Kayla said. “Duh.”
Harry and Liam shook their heads and kept running.
We reached the end of the volcano three minutes later. I looked up to see all of the crowds pushing their way down. Smoke was coming out of the volcano really fast.
“This is probably the only time Mrs. Peterson’s lectures would come in handy,” Kayla said.
    “True that,” I nodded.
“What?” Liam said. “Um...whatever. We need to get out of here.”
We continued running through the dry area. There were a few trees and houses here and there and I saw people getting into their cars or just running down the road, away from the volcano.
Once we were about a mile away, the whole ground shook.
    “Holyy.....” I said.
We watched with shock as the volcano erupted. Everyone started screaming. The lava and ash came out of the giant mountain and rolled down the sides like 100 miles per hour.
“We have to keep going!” Harry said. “Run to the ocean!”
I was exhausted, but got a second wind considering there was lava almost at our heels. My vision was getting blurry from both the smoke and ash and from my passing out. I started running in zig-zag lines.
“Marisa...” Kayla said. “Are you okay?”
    “What!” I shouted. “I can’t hear you!”
And I couldn’t see five feet in front of me. All I could hear were the screaming and ground shaking.
Suddenly, I fell into water. The coolness felt so good I sighed with relief.
“Liam? Harry? Kayla?” I yelled. “Are you guys okay?”
I heard a lot of coughing. “Yeah,” They all said.
We swam a little deeper so the lava wouldn’t reach us and doggie-paddled in place until some if the smoke cleared. What used to be a little village was now a wasteland.
