Liam’s POV
I really had no idea what I was going to do. But I ran to where there were two, buff, huge security guards. I took my ski mask off, because I’m pretty sure that would give it away. Oh well, I could be a wanted fugitive.
“Hello,” I said, smiling and making sure to use my accent. “How are you two gentlemen doing today?”
The first one narrowed his eyes at me. “Good.....who are you?”
“Um....” I said, trying to hear what was going on, “I’m a reporter for a newspaper and I’m doing a story on the local banks.”
“Really? Do you have permission to be back here?” The second guy asked.
“Yea,” I said, scrummaging through the backpack Jean gave me. “Gosh, where’d that form go? Anyway, can I ask you a few questions?”
“Um......” The guys said, looking at each other. “I guess.”
“Can we go sit in the front?” I asked. I wanted to get as far away from the noise as possible. But how would they not hear gunshots?
“Sure.”
We walked down two hallways to the front of the bank where there were some people walking around and talking. Good. We sat down on a couch.
“Okay,” I said. “So, what’s it like guarding that much money?”
“Well, it’s a little stressful,” The guy said, then looked at me. “Shouldn’t you be writing this down or something?”
“Nah, I have really good memory,” I said.
“Okay. Well, ya, it’s stressful and I always freak out when I think about if someone would rob us or something.”
I hid my smile.
I heard two gunshots.
“What the hell was that??” The second guard said, cocking his head back.
“What?” I asked. They started to get up, worried looks on there face.
“That was coming from outside. You know there’s a gun shop a few buildings away.”
“Really?” He asked.
“Yep,” I said, nodding and pushing them back down. “Okay, so anyway, we need to continue. I have to have this finished by tomorrow.”
A gunshot. A few seconds later, a third.
“Okay, what is going on????” The guard asked. Even the other people where looking around.
“I told you, there’s a gun shop!!!” I yelled. “PLEASE! I need to finish this!”
We talked for about three minutes before I heard really loud sirens go out and red lights flashing. People starting running around.
“Oh......crap,” I said, standing up.
“WHAT IS THIS????” The guard said. His face was very red.
“Thanks, I think that’s enough info for my paper,” I said, and sprinted out of the front door.
As I was pressing a few more buttons to see what was happening, red lights began to flash. It wasn’t even my fault this time. Yes.
I ran out of the basement. “Harry! Marisa!” I screamed, looking around, but all I saw was a...security guard. Running at me. Oh, dangit.
DANGER!
I began to run away. Suddenly, my body hit something hard and I screamed, almost falling over but I caught myself. I looked up to see Liam. “Where’s Marisa!” He screamed over the sirens.
“I don’t know! Hawaii!”
Liam sighed and pushed me forward, forcing me to run. We ran out the front door, looking around for Jean and Harry and Marisa but didn’t see anything. Anywhere.
“They did not leave us here.” I said, my jaw dropping.
“They totally did,” Liam said, shaking his head.
The security guards ran out of the building. Liam and I sprinted across the yard and came to a metal gate fence. We climbed up it quickly and swung our legs over, falling hard on the other side. We didn’t stop to look over our shoulders but kept running.
Then I heard a gun shot.
“They have gunnies!” I screamed.
Liam swore under his breath. “Make a right,” he whispered.
We seemed to be on a dirt path, going into the forest preserve. Great. Yet another forest.
The tip of my sneaker connected with a rock and I went flying forward. I reached out for Liam and pulled him down with me. “Kayla!” He screamed.
“Sorry for living!” I yelled back, getting back up and running. We came to a lake and I turned to see the guards flashlights in the distance.
“Jump.” Liam commanded, and I obeyed, jumping. The water hit me and it was absolutely freezing. Liam was treading water right next to me.
We stayed in there, and I was almost positive that we were going to die of hypothermia I was shaking so hard. Ten minutes later we got out, and Liam looked like he was having a seizure his whole body was moving.
“L-L-Let’s start wa-a-lking ba-a-ack.” I stuttered.
“O-O-Okay.”
