“I can’t stand this anymore.” Gage said, staring outside the tent, “I have to do something!”
“Sucks for you,” I responded. “I told you make out with Devin.”
Marisa sighed.
“I know what we should do,” Jean spoke up, “Split up. It’s raining too hard to do anything like getting away.”
I looked outside, expecting to see the sunlight that had been there where I woke up, but instead I saw rain falling so hard that you could barely see two feet in front of you. “So what do you want us to do then?” Liam asked.
“Well it’ll involve some people getting wet..”
“Not me!” Marisa quickly said.
Jean sighed, “Fine. Kayla? Harry? You mind?”
“Nope,” we both said at the same time.
“Okay,” Jean responded, “Then you two can go out and try to find a bigger shelter, because I swear to God if I have to stay cooped up in here for another day...God. I don’t know how long this storm is gonna last and I don’t want us traveling in the pouring rain, so if you can find something bigger that would be great.”
“Ight,” I responded.
“Devin and me can both hunt so we can go try to find something, anything, for us to eat. Gage...you can...”
“I just want to get out of here,” Gage responded.
“Okay, well, then you can just go running around and pray that you don’t run into a tree.”
“Fine.”
“Marisa and Liam...um....oh, I have an idea! Can any of you set a fire?”
“I can!” I yelled.
“No she can’t!” Marisa and Liam both yelled back. “We can,” Liam said, “In here.”
“Actually...” Gage stopped himself, “I think that I’ll stay here.”
“What? Why?” Marisa asked, blushing.
“Just...cuz.”
I thought back to when Gage liked Marisa. I wondered if he didn’t want her making out with Liam over a fire.
“Okay, sounds good,” Harry said, “C’mon Kayla let’s go.”
It at first seemed like a good idea, until Gage volunteered to help us. I didn’t get why.
“Gage?” Liam said. “Can you go get some wood?”
“Why can’t you?” He said. “You got two working legs.”
Liam raised his eyebrow and turned to me. I knew he wanted to fight him, but I shook my head.
Liam shrugged and left the cave.
Okay...this was really awkward.
“So,” Gage said. “How’s it going?”
“Fine,” I said, inching a little bit away.
“So are you like in love with that dude or what?” He suddenly said.
“What?” I replied, shocked. “Why do you need to know?”
“Just wondering,” He said. “And did you forget what happened on our ship?”
“Nothing happened,” I said, now at least a foot away from this guy. “And yeah, I do love him.”
