When I woke up, around 12, I didn’t see Kayla. Hmmm.

Oh, and I hadn’t woke up by choice. Krista had thrown a shoe at me.

“Ow!” I said, my eyes flying open, and sitting up.

    “Get up,” She said, sighing.

I sighed and got out of the bed, brushing my hair and trying to look awake. I left the hotel room and found Kayla, Harry, Liam, Jean, and the rest of the gang in Jean’s room.

Kayla and Harry were looking at each other in a strange way, and they smirked.

“What did I miss?” I asked.

“Nothing much,” Harry said. Kayla nodded.

“Okay, so we have to get out of here, like now,” Jean said.

“Yea, why didn’t we leave yesterday, right after the ghetto peeps?”Kayla asked.

“Cuz we were tired,” Jean said.

“Yea, Marisa was running into walls,” Liam said, smiling.

“I was?” I asked, scratching my head. “That’s why it hurts.”

We all piled into the van they stole and drove for a longgggg time. It was kinda boring, and sad watching us leave Naperville, but I was glad we were getting away from where they could hurt my family, and I kinda had missed adventure.

“So, where are we going now?” Liam asked. Like I said, that saying was just routine now.

“I don’t really know,” Jean said. “But we are not getting on a plane. Too many security guards. We’ll just.....drive for a while.”

I sighed and leaned against Liam. This was going to take a while.

And it did. We stopped at a gas station, and Kayla and I went pee and bought some candy while Jean filled up the van with gas.

After we payed the cashier, we walked back outside and stopped. There were three, big men headed right to Jean.

Marisa stopped walking, and I stopped eating my Cookie Dough long enough to see what she was looking at.

By the time I saw them though they were already there, and one grabbed Jean by the collar and pushed him against the van, hard. “Where’s the cash Jean?” One said in a rough voice.

Raven and Gage got out of the van and began to make their way over, but even they looked kind of scared. Harry and Liam were standing together, peering at the man and looking back at us.

Jean pushed the man in the chest. “Chill it Stephen, I’m working on it.”

“You said you were working on it five months ago.”

Jean shrugged, now flanked by Raven and Gage in a tight formation. “It’ll come in. I just gave you like 70k!”

“Not enough. I told you I needed-”

Sighing, I began to walk forward, and Marisa followed next to me. “Okay, pardon me, but who are you?” I asked hands on hips.

All three men glared at me. “None of your business, chick.”

Marisa, who was always one for not enjoying things with sexismn and stuff, said, “Pardon?”

The man looked down. “Who the hell are you?”

She sighed, “Just leave us alone.”

“Kayla, Marisa, shut up,” Jean said, practically begging. Harry and Liam were over here now, looking at us too.

The guy grinned, “Jean. I’ll tell you what. You give us the girls, and we’ll let you go with this money situation, ight?”

    “What?” Liam asked, sounding alarm.

“Um, sorrrraaaayy, but we’re not for SALE.” I said, dropping my hands.

    Jean paused. “Um...”

Harry walked over to Jean in two quick strides and whispered something that I couldn’t hear in his ear. Whatever he said it must have worked, because Jean said, “No deal, man,” to the big guy.

    Harry smirked, looking proud.

“Jean, come on, you’re gonna regret it...”

“No he fucking ain’t, so go awwwaaaaayyy,” I moaned.

The men, looking mad, walked away.

Jean sighed when they were out of earshot. “Damnit!!!! Do you have any idea how much shit I am in, Harry???”

Harry shrugged. “I just gave you advice, you didn’t have to follow you.”

“I’m glad that you did though,” Liam whispered.

    “Me too,” Marisa nodded.

“Well I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t come back and KILL ME!” He screamed, “God. I am so, so, so dead.”

“Jean,” I said, “Calm yo body. It’s fine.”

He turned to me harshly, “No it’s not FINE, Kayla. We’re going to DIE. Do you have any idea who they were?”

    “Um, no.”

“No, they are the FIGHTERS.” Jean screamed, “A gang, but more like terrorist. I used to work for them, but I decided that I didn’t want to go to JAIL so I dropped out. I owe them 50k.”

“What did you do?” Marisa asked.

“I hooked up with the leaders girlfriend. He’s pissed, it’s the only way I could make it so he didn’t kill me on the spot. They’re gonna come back, and they’re gonna kill me.”

“Would that be such a bad thing?” Harry murrmed, so low that I could barley hear him and Jean looked up and punched him in the nose.

“HEY! QUIT IT! Let’s just go,” Raven said, grabbing Jean.

“Where to?” Marisa asked, seeming to like all this drama. She tended to like things that had to do with “romance” and “love.” You know, all that stuff I don’t think about quite as much as her.

    “Grand Canyon.”
