Cookies. They are just so..... whoever invented them I worship.
So, yeah, I guess I owed Kayla big time now.
Jean led me into an empty room and I had flashbacks of the spiders and shivered.
“What do I have to do?” I asked, wondering what Kayla told them.
“You shall see,” Jean said, grinning. He set down a plate....of......cookies.
“What the fudge?” I asked, but he closed the door.
“Okay,” I said, nodding. “Thanks Kayla.”
I took one slow bite of the still warm chocolate chip cookies. I was just about to take a second bite when I felt my throat start to close up and my eyes water.
“This is poisonous, isn’t it?” I asked.
“Yep,” Jean’s voice said.
I tried picking the cookie back up. “But.....it’s so good!”
“Your kinda stupid,” Jean said.
My whole vision blurred and I fell on the ground, darkness everywhere.
Liam, Harold, and I were watching Marisa. We couldn’t hear what Jean was saying though, however, we got a pretty good idea.
“What happened to her?” Harry asked.
“Oh, no.” I said.
Liam was kind of just sitting there, staring at her. I leaped up and went over to where Jean was standing. “THE FUDGE?”
I saw Liam running down the stairs to Marisa and Harry was standing in between, not sure where to go. “Did you poison it?”
“I’m not an idiot, Kayla, I know that she loves cookies. I know that Harry loves sugar, Liam loves cotton candy and you love puppies. So hah!”
“So you killed her!?” I screamed. I looked down and saw Liam holding Marisa and...crying? Harry made up his mind and figured that Liam needed him more and ran down the stairs to him. They picked her up and started yelling at one of the guards. Something like, “WE NEED TO GET TO A HOSPITAL!”
“Oh, she’s dead,” Jean said. The next thing that I knew my hand was connecting with his pale, ginger face and he whipped his head back and looked at me. He pushed me and I flew backwards. I wasn’t in the mood for Jean’s games though.
“Get her to a hospital!” I screamed at him, still on the ground.
“No!”
Liam and Harry were running now. Liam was holding Marisa’s limp body by himself. Harry was yelling at another guard and the guard yelled back.
“Under one condition,” Jean said.
“What the frick do you want?” I asked, standing up.
“Break up with Harry.”
Okay, now on a normal basis I would not do that. The last time we had broken up it hadn’t gone very well. But Marisa was literally on her death bed.
“Fine!”
“Now! Then I’ll drive Marisa to the nearest and bestest hospital. Tick tock, tick tock...”
I ran down the staircase and tackled Harry. “We have to break up.” I said.
“What? Why?”
I couldn’t think of a good reason. But I figured Jean would want it to be convincing to I just said... “I...um...I...like Jean?” It was more of a question though.
“Wait what?” Harry asked, standing up.
There was no time for this! “I’m-I’m sorry,” I said, running back up the stairs to Jean. “Done.”
Jean grinned. “Now kiss me to make it convincing.”
I kissed him. I turned to see Harry looking at us, mouth open and I felt like crying. Jean snapped his fingers, “Hospital. Now!”
The guards took Marisa from a still crying Liam and threw her into the car, gently, if that’s possible. Liam, Harry and I sat in the back with her and Liam held her head in his lap.
Harry wouldn’t look at me. “Do you really like Jean?” He spat.
I looked up at the door and saw that there was a small microphone. Dang him for bugging it.
“Yeah his...gingerality appeals to me.”
“What?”
We arrived at the hospital and Marisa was rushed into a room.
