Well, my life felt like a never-ending hole. This wasn’t exactly the best day of my life.
“Are they joking? I mean, this is worse than anything they’ve done,” Harry spat, his face red with fury.
“I’m starving,” Liam said. “Are they even going to feed us?”
“I don’t know if I could ever eat again,” Kayla said. I just stood there, looking petrified.
“So, who get’s the bed?” Kayla asked. “DIBS!”
“Awwww,” Harry and Liam said. Then they turned to me.
“You know what,” I said, walking to a corner. “I think I’m just going to sleep standing up like a giraffe and try not to die, okay? Does that work for you guys?”
“You seem depressed,” Kayla told me.
“Oh, really?” I said. I curled up into a ball.
That’s when it started poring.
It’s safe to say that NONE of us slept at all that night. I did try to close my eyes and not see flashes of the starving children in my head, though. When the sun came up we all got up and stretched. Kayla was sprawled on the bed (if she got bed bugs…) Harry was leaning against the wall, and Liam was lying down next to me.
“That was probably the worst night of my life,” Kayla said, groaning.
“Oh, you shouldn’t be talking! You got the bed!” Liam said, grouchy.
“Geez,” She replied. “Someone’s unhappy.”
“That makes two,” Harry said.
“Ditto,” I sighed.
“Your all so negative,” Kayla said, putting her hands on her hips. “At least we aren’t dying of starvation.”
“Yeah, not yet,” Harry mumbled.
Kayla shot him a look and we all walked outside.
It took a few minutes, but finally Jean, Raven, and the others arrived. I had no idea where Gage was.
“Are you actually going to feed us?” I asked, still feeling exhausted.
“Possibly,” Jean said. “If you behave.”
“What are we, dogs?” Kayla asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
Jean shrugged and opened his backpack, chucking packages of crackers at us. We ate them in about five seconds.
“So what are we going to do?” Liam asked, wiping crumbs from his face.
“Today, we are going to go on a Safari trip,” Raven said, evilishly smiling.
“Really?” Liam asked, and we all smiled a little.
“Yeah, but it’s not as good as you think,” Jean said. Suddenly, Gage appeared, driving a small jeep thing that was really run down.
“I love Jeeps!” Kayla said, clapping her hands.
“Great,” Jean said. “Now get in.”
