I don’t like dark rooms.
So it was just my luck that they took me to a dark room.
“I don’t like dark rooms,” I said to the pirates.
“Oh, well,” Jean said. “You’re in one.”
“I know.” I sighed.
The room had a bright green couch, a metal desk, one tiny window, and a wooden chair. It was about the size of an office.
“So whatcha gonna do with me?” I asked.
Jean turned to Julia, “What are we gonna do with her?”
“Why are you asking the old lady on everything?” I asked him.
“I’m not!”
“Yes, you are.” Julia said in her accent, “Because I am superior to all of you.” She turned to Jean, “We’re going to ask her questions about what she thinks her friends will do when they get to the top deck so that we can be prepared.”
“Wait I have a question,” I said. “What exactly is this “tasttaaayyy revenge?”
“It’s you all dead,” Tim-whom I did not like-said.
“Oh.”
“Sit on the chair, Kayla,” Jean said.
“I’d rather not.”
“SIT!”
I sat.
“Good girl,” he said, rubbing my head like a dog. To Julia he said, “What are we going to ask her?”
She sighed, “Anything we can! For starters,” she started, kneeling down so that she was face to face with me, “Let’s ask her about the fighting skills. Marisa?”
“Oh, yeah, she doesn’t have any,” I responded.
“She must have some.”
“Nope.”
Tim sighed, “She’s not going to talk.”
Jean hit me on the cheek and I screamed.
“Yeah, she will.”
I sighed, “Marisa’s fast. Not very strong, but fast.” My cheek was still tingling.
“Liam?”
“He can’t fight either.”
Jean punched me in the stomach.
“He’s strong. He has a lot of upper body strength.” I could have also told him that he’s pretty fast too and that him and Marisa tend to stay near each other when fighting, and that he’s probably the best at survival out of all of us but I decided not to.
“Harry?”
“For God’s sake! Harry can’t fight!” I said.
“Yeah, he can,” Jean said, “You all can. And if you don’t tell me I’ll finish what Devin tried to do.”
“Whip?” I said like a baby.
“Yes.”
I remembered the pain from Devin and answered the question, “Harry’s smart. He’ll prob come up with some plan or something. And he can fight really good.”
“What else?”
“I don’t know!”
“Kayla, just answer.” Julia said in her accent that I hated, “Answer.” She made answer sound like an-swah.
“Yeah, ANSWER!” Jean answered.
“He can fight too, okay. Jean, you’ve seen them fight you know what they can do!”
“Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.”
Julia checked her watch, “Well we have like three hours till we get the tasttaaay revenge so you can just in here. Bye.”
So, thanks to Harry I had to figure out what to do with an old lady. I didn’t want to just abandon her, cuz that would be so rude, but I couldn’t think of anything so I just started walking and said, “This way.” And the lady followed without a word.
As we reached the next deck and I tried to figure out what to do, I found an open door. I peeped inside and saw a TV on and heard water running from the bathroom.
“Here’s your room okay bye!” And I gave her a little push inside.
I ran back to where Harry and Liam left me- which took me a while, cuz I got lost like three times- And sighed as I closed the door and plopped on the bed.
The two boys were watching TV with wet hair from the shower and digging into the junk food and pop the room had.
“Hey Marisa,” Liam said with a mouth-full of chips. “Oh, hey!” I said. “Thanks for ditching me with an old lady.”
“Sure thang, chicken wang,” Harry said.
“Sarcasm,” I said. “God, you’re just like Kayla.”
“Except I am a man.”
“Well, yeah.”
“This is strange,” Liam interjected.
“So now what?” I asked, rolling my eyes.
“Well, they are probably asking Kayla questions,” Harry said with a scowl. “And if she doesn’t answer...”
“Yeah,” I quickly replied. “She’ll answer.”
“So, if they know how we are going to fight we need to completely do the opposite.”
“Oh yeah!” Liam yelled.
“Okay, so Marisa you be strong...” Harry pointed.
“HEY!” I yelled.
“And I’ll be dumb and Liam will be really slow.”
“Full of yourselves much?” I sighed.
“Um, it’s kind of true.” Liam said, smiling.
“It might not work,” Liam said. “I don’t know if I can be slow.”
“You guys, I’m not useless!” I yelled.
“Well....” Harry said.
“You guys are poops. I’m leaving.” I walked into the bathroom.
When I came out of the shower- unfortunately I had no clean clothes so I had to wear the same, disgusting, half-burned clothes as before- I saw that Harry and Liam were both knocked out.
“Liam,” I whispered, poking his soft cheek. “Wake up.”
He did nothing.
“Harry,” I tried.
“I need Kayla,” I said. “Um...” I couldn’t think of anything, so I just let them sleep for an hour while I watched TV.
When they both woke up I looked at them. “Okay. It’s midnight.”
