Chapter 47

the Quinjet lands outside a large farmhouse and we all walk towards the house.

Thor looks around "What is this place?"

Tony speaks as if he brought us here on purpose "A safe house. "

Clint Speaks under his breath "Let's hope." We all enter the house. "Honey, I'm home."

Barton's heavily pregnant wife, Laura, walks in from the kitchen.

Clint Hugs her "Hi. Company. Sorry I didn't call ahead."

Laura Looks at us all "Hey."

Tony Looks at Laura kisses Barton "This is an agent of some kind."

Clint introduces his wife to us "Gentleman, Goddes Avinna. this is Laura."

Laura smiles "I know all your names. But Avinna you're a first for me."

We all look at her awkwardly.

Clint "Ooh, incoming." Barton's son Cooper and daughter Lila run in.

Barton's Daughter "Dad!" Barton picks up his daughter.

Clint "I see her!" kissing the top his son's head "Hey, buddy! How you guys doing? Ooh..."

Tony Points to the kids as we watch with surprise "These are...smaller agents."

Clint "Look at your face! Oh, my goodness!"

Lila "Did you bring Auntie Nat?"

Natasha Crouches down. "Why don't you hug her and find out?" Lila rushes towards Natasha who picks her up in her arms.

Steve Steps toward Laura. "Sorry for barging in on you."

Tony Had to awkwardly add "Yeah, we would have called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed."

Clint Stepped in "Yeah, well Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off SHIELD's files, I'd like to keep it that way. I figure it's a good place to lay low."

Laura smiles "Honey. Ah, I missed you."

Natasha Smiles and walks to Laura. touching Laura's stomach she asks "How's little Natasha, huh?"

Laura Chuckles "She's...Nathaniel."

Natasha bends towards Laura's pregnant stomach. "Traitor."

the hallucinations brought on by Wanda continue to creep up in Thor's mind and he walks out of the house.

I follow Thor. "Brother?" I ask concerned.

Thor looks down "I saw something in that dream. I need answers, I won't find them here."

"Where must you go? Are you going to just leave me? To leave at a time like this?" I walk up to him not understanding.

"I need answers Avinna. I need them now. You don't ... you won't understand." He uses his hammer to fly out of there.

I stare at the spot he once stood in.

I sit on the floor. I empty my mind and float the water around me.

Ultron's words echo in my mind. How could someone who wants the world to have peace be so willing to kill?...

Foot steps approach.

"I'm just... what is she doing" I hear Tony speak.

"Meditation.." I hear Steve's voice and I smile.

Steve and Stark are chopping wood outside Barton's house not to far from me.

Tony asks out loud. "Thor didn't say where he was going for answers?"

"No." I reply.

Steve Chops a piece. "Sometimes my teammates don't tell me things. I was kind of hoping Thor would be the exception. Or at least tell you."

"Sorry. Not all siblings are an open book." I squirm a little. Slightly getting annoyed.

Tony Put another block for Steve to cut "Yeah, give him time. We don't know what the Maximoff kid showed him."

Steve chops it "Earth's Mightiest Heroes." Pulled us apart like cotton candy."

Tony Looks to steve accusingly "Seems like you walked away all right."

Steve Raises an eye brow "Is that a problem?"

Tony Folds his arms and shrugs "I don't trust a guy without a dark side. Call me old fashioned."

Steve Smirks "Well let's just say you haven't seen it yet."

I stand up a little pissed off now. "You know Ultron is trying to tear us apart, right?"

Steve Looks Tony up and down Well I guess he would know. Whether you tell us is a bit of a question."

Tony Rolls his eyes "Banner and I were doing research."

Steve buts in "That would affect the team."

Tony Looks intense. "That would end the team. Isn't that the mission? Isn't that the "why" we fight, so we can end the fight, so we get to go home?"

Steve Grips the axe tight. "Every time someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die. Every time."

Laura interrupts us startling us. "I'm sorry. Mr. Stark, uh, Clint said you wouldn't mind, but, our tractor, it doesn't seem to want to start at all. I thought maybe you might..."

Tony  smiles at her "Yeah I'll give her a kick" to Steve as he turns to leave; referring to his pile of chopped wood. "Don't take from my pile."

"I don't get why you ever liked that guy." Steve chops another one.

"It was only briefly. And believe it or not. He's not entirely wrong..." I look to steve.

"You seriously don't see the flaws?" He puts the axe down.

"I didn't say that." I put my hands up.

"Then what are you saying?" He looks like a lost puppy.

"I'm saying that... we help fight the bad guys. The mass killers. The people who break peace. Once peace happens. . . There will be no need for super hero's..." I turn and walk away.
