Chapter 61

Me and Steve walk into the building with Sam circling and doing recon. "First the avengers get called off by leaders in power. Then Peggy. Now Bucky. . . Do you ever feel like the universe hates us?" Steve doesn't respond. "I am sorry about Peggy babe... time . . . It's just not on our side..." Steve nods.

We start to walk up the flights of stairs. "He would be one to live in a place like this. And OH surprisingly many exits. How do we know he still in town?" I ask sort of stomping up the stairs a little upset at the situation.

"We don't. But I have to make sure the old fashion way now." Steve turns and smiles at me.

I roll my eyes and smile back. We unlock the door and walk into the small apartment. We look around. There's a mattress with dishevelled covers and various bits of cheap looking furniture.

"Are you going to be okay with this?" I ask breaking the silence.

The kitchen and bedroom are in the same room. Steve replies "I have to do this." He then finds a notebook on top of the fridge. He picks it up and opens it. There are tabs of varying colors sticking out from amongst the pages.

Sam on radio "Heads up, Cap. German Special Forces, approaching from the south."

Steve says  "Understood." I look at Steve.

Some how Bucky's standing behind us. Steve slowly turns around to face him.

"Do you know me?" Bucky asks. I quickly turn startled.

"Oh Odin you scared me." I almost yell.

Bucky stares at me then steve. "You're Steve. I read about you in a museum."

"Steve..." I put my hands up slowly gathering all water in the apartment.

Sam pages in again "They've set the perimeter."

Steve Slowly moves and responds "I know you're nervous. And you have plenty of reason to be. But you're lying."

Bucky Getting defensive "I wasn't in Vienna. I don't do that anymore."

"I personally believe you... you cannot fly like me or Sam so the trip... it's physically impossible." I rant and vent. "So why not just come safely with Steve and I?"

Sam Interrupts again "They're entering the building"

Steve reason a little impatient . "Well, the people who think you did do it are coming here now. And they're not planning on taking you alive."

Bucky Nods "That's smart. Good strategy."

Sam Whispers "They're on the roof. I'm compromised".

I hear Armed cops run upstairs. "Steve. Time's running out. I can stall them." I ready myself.

Steve Holds put his up stopping me. And holds his other hand to Bucky "This doesn't have end in a fight, Buck."

Outside the door a cop readies a battering ram.

I move the water in front of me putting around me.

Bucky Looks at it strangely but responds to Steve "It always ends in a fight." He starts to remove his glove from his metal hand.

Sam sternly says  "5 seconds."

Steve Continues to try "You pulled me from the river. Why?"

Bucky Shrugs And Looks Down "I don't know."

Sam Nervousness is popping through and he yells "3 seconds!"

Steve Shakes his head "Yes, you do."
