Ring ring ring.

I reach across my bed and my hand search's for my phone. "Hello?" I groan into my phone, not bothering to open my eyes or make any motion of getting out of bed.

"What are you doing today?" Me sister asks into the phone, her voice doing the high pitched thing it does when she's excited.

"Probably working, because, you know, I have a job now." I sit up and look around my halfway decorated room. I squint my eyes at the clock hanging on my wall and see that it's 8 in the morning. "Why are you calling me this early?" I scold her through the phone, angry that she woke me up before David did. "Don't you have school or something?"

"It's Saturday, lay." I make my way out of bed and down the stairs.

"Okay, and why are you calling me at 8 in the morning on a Saturday?" I enter the kitchen to see David eating some toast and holding Maria to his chest, she rests peacefully there.

"Because I want to meet David. I want to meet him right now."

"Okay." I grab an apple out of the fridge. "And I want a million dollars." David carefully sets his phone on the table and watches me as I move about the large kitchen.

"Make me some waffles." He demands and i remove the phone from my ear momentarily.

"Does Maria want waffles?" I question, knowing very well that she can't eat waffles yet, but remind him that I'm Maria's nanny, not his.

"Maria wants you to make me waffles." he assures me.

"Make your own damn waffles, David." A lady enters the room and takes a seat next to David. she taps his shoulder and shows him some things in a small book that she pulled out of her designer purse.

She has a perfect set of teeth and seems to be very familiar with david. Familiar enough to just walk into his house.

"Annabelle, I'll see what I can do later. Okay?" i take a bite of my apple and she hums in response.

"I love you." She says and quickly ends the call.

"I'm Natalie." The lady says and smiles over at me. "David's hot assistant."

"You wish." He says and picks his phone back up, rolling his eyes at her statement.

"You must be the new nanny, Maria's new almost mommy." I nod and offer her a smile.

David motions to the baby and I make my way to him and take her out of his arms. "I'll be gone for most of the day today. But I'll come check on you during lunch and we'll get something to eat. Alright?" I nod and he places his keys and his wallet on the table.

"I don't want your wallet, David."

"You're going to be seen out with me today. The media is going to jump on the both of us immediately." David explains.

"Which is something else you need to be ready for. David's fans aren't ready to know about his kid. Are you prepared to claim Maria as your own on social media's and for the hate some people are going to give you?"

I glance around me and avoid David's eyes. I didn't really have any friends back where we used to live. No one would have known if I was pregnant and no one would care to release the information that I wasn't. We were all adults, and they couldn't have known for sure. And I spent the majority of my summer here anyways, but I never left the house or anything. Which is why I had no clue where I was going.

But as soon as someone found out my Instagram or Twitter they would immediately jump on it and begin saying I'm not good enough for David or that I'm a crappy mom. And playing mom for Maria means that most of my social media's need to become all about her. I didn't have many followers. Maybe like a hundred something on instagram and 40 on Twitter, and they both would skyrocket after our lunch meet today.

Claiming Maria wasnt a bad thing exactly, but eventually I'll get attached to her. Spending so much time with her, raising her in place of her mother and her most likely going to think of me as her mother, I would never be able to leave her. Although most nanny's stick around an entire childhood me and David are bound to have a falling out sometime right?

"You'll be together a lot and eventually people are going to find out that you're living together, someday the beans will be spilled that Maria's David's and it'll be a mess." Natalie says and leans against the table next to David, who nods in agreement.

"But it won't be anytime soon." David assures me. "But the backlash will be rough. You can just delete your social media's, if that's all too much." I shrug, deciding that it'll all happen anyways.

"Gotta deal with it sometime right?" He nods in response and shoves his wallet towards me.

"Just go get yourself some very nice things. You have to look good all the time when we go out." I roll my eyes.

"Does it matter how I dress?" Natalie offers me a sad look and nods, and it dawns on me that I do need to look nice all the time when I'm with him and so does Maria. The backlash will be 100x worse if I continue to dress comfortable, which also means I look homeless. I could even damage David's name, and as much as I didn't care about David's name it would be rude to let that happen.

"What do I get?" I question and he shrugs me off and continues typing at the speed of lightning on his phone.

"Look on Instagram for inspiration." I nod and tap my finger awkwardly on the island that separated us.

"Can you do me a favor tonight?" He furrows his eyebrows as if me asking for something from him was the oddest thing in the world.

"I mean, I expected a few months until the request for sexual favors, but I can-" he smirks over at me and I cut him off, feeling disgusting at the thought.

"You're horrid." I make a gagging sound and press a hand to my chest, appalled by his suggestion. "I want you to meet my little sister tonight." I roll my eyes and tilt my head, urging him to reply.

"Oh, there's a baby rat?" He raises an eyebrow and pulls his phone out again and types furiously.

"Don't you have someplace to be?" I question. "A bottle of jack to finish?" I say, knowing that the boys like to party-although I doubt David does anymore because of Maria.

"Yeah, whatever." He mumbles, taking Maria out of my hands momentarily. "I love you, angel. By a good girl, okay?" She giggles and her tiny hands bat at David's cheeks, a smile wide on his face. A little of her spit drips on his shirt and he glances at it before kissing her cheeks repeatedly. "I love you my little girl." He places her in my arms and points to his wallet and keys. "Shopping, now." He demands.

"Can you leave now?" I slams the front door as he exits and I roll my eyes at the childish boy.
