"where the fuck is she?" david hisses, growing more and more annoyed with the passing seconds. layla was one to be late all the time, and it was the topic of quite a few of their arguments, though they didn't happen often. david couldn't help but voice his worry everytime she was ten or fifteen minutes late to an important engagement, the few times he let her do things alone. "she said she was here." he sighs deeply and begins calling her again.
"well, her mom said she dropped her off fifteen minutes ago." scotty shrugs his shoulders and continues sipping his sprite. "maybe go ask someone or something. she was just here. she can't have gone far." david nods slowly before taking a deep breath to calm himself down.
it wasn't scotty's fault layla wasn't there, and when they see her it'd be bad for him if he was annoyed and upset. layla is still in a fragile place, and david's fear of post-partum grew by the day. he knew it was inevitable and with layla already being depressed he was scared of what could happen if he factored those two things in and he started a heated argument over something not that important.
after a few moments he stands and makes his way to the cashier, who seemed to recognize him instantly. "hi, i'm looking for a girl and a newborn baby. they would have been here about fifteen minutes ago. she's about this tall." he raises his hand to the side of him showing how tall layla is. "darkish skin. crazy beautiful." he adds the end with a smile.
"um, yeah. they were here. they sat right there." he looks to where she's pointing at a booth in the corner. "some ripped dude who looked like a male model came in and talked to them before they left with him. she looked sort of shaken up. almost scared. weird. i didn't think anything of it though, just couples being couples." she seems to ponder for a moment before shrugging off the situation. "but what's up tho?" she smiles widely. "i know who you are. i know exactly who you are." before she can say anything else david turns and begins walking away, the last thing on his mind the cashier.
he knew exactly who she was talking about and his mind was fogged with what ifs. somehow he blamed himself. "was she here?" scotty questions and looks up from his phone to see david's shaken up look. "what's wrong with you?"
"he's got her. the two fucking seconds i left them alone he found her." david lets out a grunt before tugging the ends of his hair and kicking the chair over. almost everyone in the restaurant is startled and they turn to watch him quickly, his outburst now being recorded by half the restaurant.
"hey, calm down. were gonna go find her. we're gonna go right now." scotty takes his arm and pulls towards the door.
"what if-what if it's too late. he only wants astoria, what if we don't find her." david thinks out loud before pulling his seat belt tight around him, his mind foggy as he waits for scotty to start the car. "i can't be without them. i can't. i need them." he begins hyperventilating and looks at scotty with wide eyes.
"we're in love with the same girl. i know exactly what you mean and how you feel. we're going to find her. we're going to do it together." he assures david and takes a deep breath.
"what do we do first?" he questions.
"well, she has her location on, right?" scotty questions. david nods in response but let's out a deep breath. "you can see the last location it was in when it was on. hopefully her phone is still on and we can get right to her, but just check it and i'll call the cops." david nods and pulls his phone out quickly, his fingers moving extremely fast against the screen as his anxiety levels grow impossibly higher.
"hi, i'd like to report a kidnapping." scotty mumbles into the phone. "yes, i know for a fact she was kidnapped and i know who did it." after releasing a grunt he rolls his eyes. "why are you asking so many questions? can you just send someone to meet me somewhere? my best friend and her new born daughter are missing and you're going to do nothing about it?" after a few moments scotty aggressively slams his hand against the steering wheel of david's brand new tesla. "just send someone to the hills." he rolls his eyes. "thank you."
