"I'm so sick of your attitude." David rolls his head back and massages his temples before turning to me and giving me a disgusted look. "Fucking stop. Now. I'm not going to have your shitty mood ruin our trip. We're going to enjoy it as a family and make family memories. Okay? I'm sick of your shit." I hold maria tightly and her soft snores assure me that she's not getting up anytime soon, even with the elevated level of davids voice.
"Do you really want to have this fight right now?" I whisper yell and look around us.
David insisted on getting the extremely expensive plane tickets that you only see people on instagram taking aesthetic photos of their Balenciagas and showing off how much money they have. All of davids friends are around us and most of them are sleeping.
"Yes. Right now Layla." he insists in a hard tone.
"Fine. What the hell do you have to say that you haven't already said? Or did you just want to reiterate the fact that you're 'in love with me' but still had to do exactly what people do not do when they're in love? Or is that a different conversation?" I lift an eyebrow before rolling my eyes and turning back to the television in front of me.
"I've already told you that i was blackout drunk, Lay. I went there with the intention of helping her feel better about the breakup. I don't even remember more than half of the night." I begin tapping my foot and let out a deep breath.
"I don't want to be anywhere near you. The reason i didn't leave is because my father. His bills need to be paid. My mother is out of a job. they're living in your house. And Maria. I can't leave her. I can't see myself without her ever again." I look down at the sleeping child in my arms and i know that i have nothing but love for her.
Taking on this job and taking on being a sort of mother to her seemed like it was going to be one of the hardest things i'd ever have to do. By no means is raising a child easy, but i'm extremely blessed to be doing it with David.
David places a steady hand on my knee and gives me a soft smile. "Lay, if you want to leave i won't stop you. I love your parents. I would never ever take a home or the treatment away from them. I want you to be happy. And if that isn't with me and it's with that dumb fuckboy Riley then i guess i'll have to accept it. When you want me i'll be here, Layla. Me and Maria. We love you." i can't help but let a few tears leave my eyes as i think about the fact that David really didn't mean to hurt me. And how far out of proportion i blew it. And that he'd do just about anything for me.
"Im sorry." I mumble. "I didn't mean to ruin everything we had." I furrow my eyebrows together and wipe my face quickly. "I was upset."
"Of course, honey. It was completely my fault. Don't ever think anything happened because of you. You're perfect." he assures me and makes his way to the seat beside me and places a gentle kiss on my forehead. "Can we try again?" He questions with a hopeful tone of voice.
"David.." i trail off.
At this point my feelings for David are a mess. Forgiving him is one of the most confusing things i've ever done. But i'm glad i did it. Either way Riley still exists. And he tries hard to make me happy. I can't just ghost him. I won't be that person. But-if i do decide to leave him i need to do it before anything becomes official.
"One date. If it's not there then it's not there. Okay?" He nods quickly and returns to his seat, leaving me a mess of emotions.

"This place is beautiful!" I exclaim and nudge Scotty and Trisha with my elbows.
Hawaii has to be one of the most beautiful places i've ever seen. It's got blue ass water, tall ass trees, beautiful ass houses. Its got everything.
"I'm glad you like it." David smiles over at me as we make our way into the massive hotel we'd all be staying at.
"Are you kidding?" I bounce a cranky maria on my hip and wave him off. "It's one of the most beautiful places ever."
I busy myself for a few moments while he signs us in before following the rest of the group into the elevator. Small talk fills the tiny space as there's chatter of colleen's new baby and Joshs who's scheduled to be born soon. I've never personally met colleen but davids talks highly of her, I'm sure that one day i'll get to meet the famous miranda sings.
"You know," David glances at me with a small smile on his face. "Colleen wanted us to stop by with maria. Shes over joyed that her baby will be able to be friends with our baby." i lift an eyebrow in response and follow him into the hotel room.
"The famous Miranda sings. She seems really cool now but i never really watched her videos. I never really got into them. They were kind of annoying, actually." i shrug. Placing maria on my bed with a toy I make my way into the bathroom and start brushing my teeth and combing my hair out of my face. Flying always makes me feel grimey.
"You didn't like me either. Until you met me." David points out from his bed.
"I still don't." I shout.
after finishing up in the bathroom i throw myself on the bed and make myself comfortable before closing my eyes and letting out a deep breath.
"We have a date tonight." David reminds me. I respond with a mhmm and continue laying in the same spot.
It's not long before i feel a small pair of hands gently touching my face and i peak an eye open to find Maria staring me in my eyes.
"Say 'bye mommy.'" david grins widely and Maria gurgles and giggles before placing a sloppy open mouthed kiss on my cheek. "She just gave you her first kiss!" David gushes. His eyes show nothing but love and i smile at the pair before me. "Were gonna go see auntie Kristen. Do you wanna come?" he lifts an eyebrow.
Before i can respond my phone behind to vibrate beside me and Riley's name flashes against the screen. I slowly pick it up and hold it in my hands until it stops ringing.
My eyes slowly meet davids and he sighs before turning towards the door and sliding it halfway shut before offering me a smile. "I'll come get you at 8. I love you, Layla." his time of voice breaks my heart.
