When I finally got home, I ran up the stairs to my bedroom. I tossed my bag on the ground and plopped myself on my bed. Finally home.
I sat up and grabbed the records and set them with the others. I took my shoes off, followed by my pants and my jacket. I walked downstairs and grabbed some food then headed back upstairs.
Elvis was singing to me while I laid in bed eating and thought about my day. John mostly to be honest. He was gorgeous. No wonder he's taken. He must really like Cynthia to ditch a random girl just to spend time with her.
But then why does he wanna spend time with me without telling his girlfriend? Is he really happy with her? I mean she's the complete opposite of him. Ugh why do I even care?? I shook my head and got up, taking my pack of cigarettes out of my bag. I lit one and brought it to my lips, inhaling. Fuck I needed that.
"Lucy come down and help with the groceries!" I heard my mom yell. I groaned and put my cig out and put some pants on.
"Hey there she is! How was your first day Luce?" My step dad asked. I shrugged.
"It was alright." I couldn't help smiling a little bit.
"Wait a minute. What's this?" He asked noticing my face turning red.
"What? Nothing." I said putting stuff away.
"No no no I know that look. Ye met a bloke didn't ye?"
"Matter of fact I did. But he's just a friend."
"Lucy you met a guy?" My mom asked curiously. I nodded.
"He's a friend mom. Calm down."
"I'm just asking. Sorry."
I giggled and sat on a chair. "Why are you two back so early from work? No students to nag today?" I asked my step dad.
He patted the top of my head. Phil was a professor at some snooty college about an hour away from here. My mom was a geometry teacher there.
"Not today love. Actually we got reservations at a posh restaurant tonight. It's our anniversary." He smiled.
"Congratulations!" I yelled.
"Wow. For the first time ever, my husband remembers an important date and my child forgets. Lovely." My mom said closing the fridge. I smiled and got up.
"So I have the place to myself."
"Ah don't get to chummy there Lucy. We'll be back by eleven tonight."
I pouted.
"So that means be home from wherever you were by then." Phil said biting into a piece of bread. I smiled.
"Alright. Will do."
....
Six Thirty-four pm
"How do I look?" Phil asked strutting out of his room. I giggled and shook my head.
"Like a nerd."
"Aye." He said looking at himself in the hallway mirror.
"A handsome nerd." I smiled. He was dressed in a pretty nice suit as my mom wore a black long dress that really showed her figure. They were ready for their little date and I was ready to just leave.
"Okay Lucy money is on the table and phone numbers are on the paper by the phone." My mom said walking to the door.
"I know I know mom. Go." I said standing in the doorway. She nodded.
