Two months later

I stood around the corner listening to John talk to Cynthia.

"...I really am sorry love. I know this night meant a lot to ye but...I 'av a gig two hours from 'ere. I know you hate long drives and only a few of us will be able to fit in the van."

She sounded upset. "But it's our four month aniversary. I just...what if I do go with ye?"

"It's too cold out love. It's better you stay 'ere nice and warm. Me and the mates will be just fine."

"I suppose."

"Cheer up. Look, when I come back, you and me will 'av a lot of catchin up to do." I could hear the cheeky grin on his face.

"Oh John." She giggled as I heard them kiss.

"Glad that's sorted. Look I better get going. I gotta meet the lads after this last class. You off going 'ome?"

"Yeah. Remember to call me?"

"Of course love. I'll be seein ye."

"I love you." She said.  I could hear the reluctance in his voice as he answered.

"I love ye too."

Another kiss. I heard her footsteps fade as she finally left. John turned the corner and sighed.

"I love you." I smirked mocking her voice.

"Shut it Daniels." He said leaning down and kissing me. I smiled and pulled back.

"You're still coming with us right?" He asked wrapping an arm around my shoulder as we walked to life class.

"Of course.'" I smiled looking up at him.

...

It was midterms and me and John were more than happy to be able to spend our time together away from Liverpool for awhile. The band was doing better and had more gigs lined up.

It was December 18th, 1957 as we got ready for our last day of classes for the semester. Yes me and John were together behind Cynthia's back. I know it's wrong but I couldn't keep away from him. Plus she was always nagging him about wanting a more serious relationship. Which I thought was rediculous. I understand that he's only seventeen and he deserves freedome. He needs a real girlfriend. Not a wife.

John was drawing a picture of a group of people, drunk and having sex.

"Aye Lucy, this'll be us all week." He smirked pointing at the picture.

"Yeah? You forgot one thing." I drew a phone next to what I assumed was him passed out on the floor. I added question marks. He knew who I was referring to.

"She don't 'av to know what's going on. Plus, all I 'av to say is that I couldn't reach a phone." He smiled. I laughed and shook my head.

"What time do we leave?"

"Six tonight. We'll come around yours to pick ye up. Have your things packed by then. Look, I uh got ye somethin." He said pulling something out of his pocket.

"What is it?"

He handed me a small box with a ribbon on top. I opened it and smiled, pulling out a necklace. It had a J on it. I looked at him as he reached under his shirt and pulled out the silver necklace around his neck. It had a tag on it that had an L printed on it. I knew what it meant. I smiled and leaned in and kissing him.

...

I already had my bags ready when I got home. I ran upstairs to my room and decided to fix myself up. I changed from a skirt to jeans. Since i'm going to be in a vehicle full of teenage guys, I don't need to have my legs exposed to them.

I watched tv to pass the time and soon regreted it. I watched as the newsreporter came on with a new story. I turned the volume up.

"...and new evidence about that devastating plane crash two months ago that killed all two hundred and ten passengers, including the pilots. Authorities have confirmed the cause for the crash, first thought to be because of an electrical storm, but later research has indicated an outage in one of engines, causing sparks and then an explosion. No bodies were found and even if they were, we believe they would have been burned to ashes."

I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I stared blankly at the screen. I bit my lip and jumped when I heard a car horn outside.

"Aye Lucy! Come on were running a bit late!" I heard John in the distance. I turned the tv off and walked outside with my bags.

John came over and helped me put my stuff with everyone else's until he saw me wipe my tears.

"What's wrong?"

"N..nothing. Just a silly news report on the um...plane crash."

He sighed and wrapped his arms around me. "I know it still hurts love. Come on, let's get goin. This week will take your mind off it yeah? You deserve a good vacation away from 'ere."

I smiled and nodded. "You're right. Let's get going."

"That's my girl. Come on, you can sit by your boyfriend."

"Wha.."

He helped me inside as I sat next to...George!?

"George! You're coming!?"

"Yeah. John that twisted bastard, finally came around and is letting me play for them!"

"I'm so glad you're coming George." I smiled hugging him. I looked at John and mouthed a thank you. He just smiled and shook his head.
