I finally got discharged from the hospital the next morning. The day of the dance. John 'attempted' to drive me home but he almost ran over a few nurses in the parking lot so I drove myself.

I felt a lot better to be honest. I wasn't tired or sad or emotional. I did have to take anti depressents. I don't think I needed them but hey, free pills.

"Are you coming over to see us tonight?" John asked as we walked in my front door. I nodded.

"Yeah. I got a date there and I don't want to let him down." I smiled to myself. I was actually pretty excited to go with George.

"Oh. Um...who are you going with?" He asked sounding glum.

"George." I said as we walked up the stairs.

"I see. You two have been getting pretty close."

"No more than you and me." I said opening my bedroom door.

"So you two 'av been fucking? Didn't know he 'ad it in him."

I sighed. "I meant, were only friends John. No were not sleeping together. He's never even made a move."

"But if he did?"

I shook my head. "He's a kid John. A really really sweet kid. Besides, I would want him to be with someone else. I'm not exactly one of those girls you're proud to take home to meet your folks."

"I think you're a pretty good girl." He smirked sitting on my bed. I scoffed and cleaned up.

"Yeah. Coming from someone like you, that says a lot."

He laughed and shook his head. "Ye know I missed your wit."

I smiled and stacked my records. "It's nice to be back here. But a bit painful to see old memories."

"Don't think about it. Look, they're in a better place now."

I nodded and found the bottle of pills I had that day, sitting on my nightstand.

"Look I should go. I have to get ready and practice..."

"Okay."

"Will you be alright by yourself?"

"Yeah I'll be just fine."

"Mmkay. Look, just...don't try killing yourself tonight yeah? Cause I like havin ye around."

I laughed and looked down. "I promise you I wont."

"Good. Well, I'm off out then."

"See you later."

He smiled and walked out the door. Seconds later, the front door opened then closed. I looked around and sighed.

...

I was never nervous to go out. But this was a dance and it was terrifying. I wore a black dress with black heels that hurt like hell anytime I walked. I pinned my hair up and put a little makeup on my face. I think I looked pretty fair.

George was outside having a smoke by himself looking just as nervous. He was dressed in his usual fashion, leather jacket, black jeans, dark shirt, greased hair. His jaw dropped when he saw me.

"Hi." I smiled nervously. He just watched me.

"H..hello."

I giggled and covered my face. "I look dreadful don't I?"

"No! You look gorgeous! Stunning actually. You make all these bimbos look like goody two shoe snobs."

Just as he said that, John and Cyn came by, hand in hand. She looked a bit offended in her pearly pink dress and white heels. George's face turned red.
