Five Day's Later
February 8, 1964 Friday
I sat nervously in the hotel lobby waiting for them to arrive. Pen and paper in hand, Cigarette behind my ear, Andrew by my side eating peanuts.
"Jesus Christ Andrew can you chew any louder!?" I yelled as he stared at the elevators watching two women in tight skirts walk by.
"Don't get fussy with me just cause you're nervous. Let's not forget who you're working for."
"Yeah the elephant who keeps eating small bags of peanuts." I rolled my eyes staring at the entrance doors.
"...Elephant? I'm not even fat!"
"Hush here someone comes!" I yelled covering his mouth. I watched as two women walked in with a million kids. I sighed in relief. "No wait, false alarm."
"What's taking so long I have a date to get too!" Andrew whined.
"To who? Janice?" I smirked.
"You just won't let that go will you??"
"No. Janice was a dirty whore. You're smart and you can do better than that." I poked his chest.
"Aw thanks Luce."
I smiled and shook my head. I played with a loose thread on my skirt as Andrew hummed a song. I sighed and sat back when I saw a familiar face walk in through the doors. He looked tired and frustrated as he talked to the woman behind the desk.
"Wait...that's their manager." I whispered shaking Andrew. He pulled my hand away.
"Okay okay calm down." He said.
I watched as Brian walked by staring at his watch. He passed us and walked to the elevators.
"Brian!" I yelled. He turned and looked at me. A smile spread across his face.
"L...Lucy Daniels is that you!?"
"Um yeah." I smiled awkwardly standing up. He walked over to us and hugged me. I was a bit surprised but hugged back.
"What are ye doin here!?"
"I'm uh the person interviewing them tonight."
"So I see ye still work in the buisness. Good for you Lucy! Ye know I always wondered what happened to you. It's just so good to see you're doing well." Brian smiled. I gave a small smile back. Yeah. If he only knew how sad my personal life is.
"Thanks. Oh and this is my boss Andrew." I pointed out and watched them shake hands.
"It's very lovely to meet you. Look if you haven't noticed. The lads are sight seein so they may be in late. But don't worry I've arranged for one of you to stay in a room."
"What about tomorrow? We can reschedule." I said looking around.
"I'm afraid not. Tomorrow they have a television gig then after that, it's off to rehearsal. They're pretty much booked for awhile."
"I see. Well have fun Lucy! I'll be seein you." Andrew patted my shoulder and walked off.
I asked Brian to wait and ran after Andrew. "What are you doing??" I whispered loudly.
"Off to my date. It's your assignment Luce. Not mine. Just get it done."
I sighed. "So do I stay or.."
"We need this interview. Look you'll be alright. This is your shot into the big leagues of magazine writing." He smiled and kissed my cheek. I nodded.
"Fine. But when I get that promotion, you better get ready to kiss my ass." I pointed at him.
"I'll be waiting on my knees when ye walk in." He winked and walked away. I giggled.
"Good luck!" He yelled and left out the doors. I breathed slowly and walked back to Brian.
"So. Show me my room."
