Two-Bit and I talked for a while longer, sometimes with his friends stopping by, sometimes with my friends butting in on the conversation, but it was mostly just us two talking and laughing.

After I started to slur our words, his funny pick up lines almost began to work.

"And that's why you never get drunk before a volleyball game," I concluded, finishing my story.

Two-Bit finished laughing and nodded. "That don't sound pleasant."

"I'm just glad it didn't happen to me."

Two-Bit asked, "You don't get drunk much, do you?"

"Nah. It ain't my thing- I'm always worried that I'm gonna get pregnant or somethin'," I laughed.

"Uh- Yeah- well, hopefully, that ain't gonna happen."

Before I could think of what to say next, I heard someone call my name. Glancing towards the door, I saw a very-drunk Stacey stagger inside, almost falling with every unsteady step.

"Your friend is wasted," Two-Bit whispered.

I nodded and stood up off the barstool, almost falling myself. I got to Stacey. Her mascara was running down her cheeks but she wasn't crying anymore.

"What the hell?" I lead Stacey outside where the music wasn't so loud. I could only think that the worst thing possible had happened to her.

She smiled weakly. "I can't go home."

"Stacey, what happened?! Have you been cryin'?! Did he rape-"

"No! God no," she yelled back at me, appalled. "No, he didn't. He just kicked me out is all. I thought he'd let me stay the night so I could tell mom and dad I spent the night with you. But now I got nowhere to go."

"Is-is that why you were cryin'?"

"Yeah, Ava. Calm your tits, girl." Stacey laughed at my panic.

I let out a sigh of relief. "Holy shit, you had me scared."

She started giggling. "You're a dumbass."

"Yeah, I'm so fuckin' stupid for bein' worried about you."

She laughed more. Stacey could be a bitch when drunk. "Let's go back inside." She grabbed my hand and tried to drag me back into Buck's, but almost fell over first.

Luckily for her, I caught her before she hit the ground. "No, no more drinks for you."

"More drinks for me," she argued and stormed back inside. She went right to where I had been sitting, next to Two-Bit. I could see her order something and turn to Two-Bit. They started talking, her trying to flirt with him. It looked like he was politely declining.

I walked up to my old seat and frowned at Stacey. "Come on, we need to leave," I whined. I glanced at Two-Bit, trying to show that I was sorry.

"No we don't," she argued back. "Listen, Ava, I know you ain't one to have fun, but I am. So just let me damn be!"

I sighed. "Okay, fine. Be that way."

I sat down next to her and ordered another drink. Poor Two-Bit looked just a little scared next to Stacey like he thought we would start fist-fighting or something.

"Sooo, Two-Bit," Stacey flirted, "what're you doin' tonight?"

Two-Bit sent me a glance that screamed 'help me'. I shrugged, knowing there was nothing I could do.

"Um, hopefully, my girlfriend?" he said half-heartedly.

"Is she here?"

"Yes."

"Where?"

"Uh- well, not here. Not right now. She's- uh- at my- I mean, her house, gettin' ready to come here."

I tried to stifle my laughter with the back of my hand. Two-Bit was a terrible liar.

"Then we have time."

"No, we don't." He paused and pointed. "Look, there she is now! Hi babe!" He stood up and practically ran towards the door.

Stacey sighed and let her shoulders drop. "Bummer."

Buck wandered up to us and Stacey perked up.

"Can I help you, ladies?"

"In many ways," Stacey purred.

I stood up and walked away, wishing that Stacey wouldn't be such a whore all the time.

I found Pony and Johnny looking uncomfortable while Darry supervised over them, watching them like a hawk for no apparent damn reason. I couldn't see those two getting into any kind of trouble.

"Hey guys," I said quietly, leaning against the wall with them. We talked for a while- and then the drinking started to hit me. I could feel my vision start to blur and it got harder to watch what I was saying. My words were slurred and my eyelids got heavy. When I stumbled over my own feet, I knew it would be a good idea to go home.

"I gotta go home," I grumbled, shaking my head. "Wait... damn it! Stacey's house was where I was gonna stay!"

I looked at Darry. "You can sleep on the couch at my house." He looked pointedly at his watch. "It's time for us to leave anyways- at least you and me, Pony."

Pony didn't argue. We left, and Johnny tagged along. When we got outside, I noticed Steve and Soda were talking to Two-Bit. Steve and Soda each had a girl with them, but Two-Bit didn't.

Steve and Soda, upon seeing us, kissed their girl's goodbye and tagged along. Two-Bit did as well, lighting a cigarette.

When we got to the Curtis' house, I could barely walk my ass to the couch. When I dropped onto it like a sack of potatoes, I immediately wanted to sleep. It took a while for everyone to get settled and quit making noise, but when everyone was on their couch or bed or at home, I noticed Two-Bit was on the armchair across from me, and I couldn't help but remember the pickup lines he'd said earlier and the way he'd refused Stacey's advances.

"Hey," I finally whispered, sitting up. "You remember last night? How you offered to share the armchair?"

"Yeah?"

"I think I'm gonna take you up on that opportunity."

He laughed awkwardly. "How much did you have to drink?"

I shrugged. "What's it matter anyway?"

"Uh- well- I think tonight ain't a night for sharin'."

I shook my head. He was right and I was drunk, but I couldn't help but feel annoyed. Rolling over, I sighed, and decided to try and sleep and hope that my hangover wouldn't be too bad.
