Keith One Shots

This was requested by IMJUSTNONSTOP like a month ago and I'm sorry it took so long for me to do but I hope you like it. 

Based on after season seven btw.

The paladins had been on Earth for a few months now. They had all recovered and had arranged a meeting with the rebels as for them, Voltron hadn't been seen in 3 years. It wasn't meant to be a serious meeting, it was just a chance for Voltron, Shiro, Romelle, Coran and Krolia to catch up with Matt and the rest of the rebels. However, upon arrival the conversation took a quick turn...

(that made like no sense but just pretend it did)

Keith's P.O.V

I paced around the room, waiting for the rebels to arrive. Pidge and Hunk were fiddling with a part of the ship, making small tweaks to the controls. We had decided that Atlas would be the new castle of lions but after the fight it needed some work. Most of the repairs had already been done but a few things on the controls still needed adjusting.

"What's taking them so long!?" Lance exclaimed, tapping his foot on the ground impatiently. I rolled my eyes and checked the time.

"They probably got held up with something. They shouldn't be much longer" I replied. Just as I said that the doors opened and Matt walked in. His hair was twice as long since we last saw him and he was almost twice his height too.

"Hey guys! How's it go-" Just as Matt started speaking he was attacked with a hug from Shiro.

"Matt it's been so long." He said. Matt chuckled and hugged Shiro back. Allura stepped forward and shook Matt's hand. The huge blush on Matt's face was very noticeable. He took the Princess' hand and kissed it gently.

"It's nice to see you again M'Lady." Matt spoke, making his voice sound as deep and 'manly' as possible. The rest of us all rolled our eyes and I let out a small chuckle. That's when Matt drew his attention to me and attacked me in a huge hug. I was startled at first, but then I gently hugged back, still confused as to why Matt was hugging me so hard.

"Keith! I haven't seen you since Naxzela! After everything that happened there I never really got to talk to you about it" He said. That's when I remembered.

I remembered turning my ship into the direction of the shield.

I remembered flying straight towards it.

I remembered Matt's voice in the background.

I remembered closing my eyes.

I remembered pulling away last minute.

And I remembered turning off my comm, hugging my knees, and breaking down.

"I know you haven't seen Keith in a while but my gosh Matt, that was a big hug" Pidge said, poking Matt in the hip. Matt pulled away and gave a concerned look.

"Well after what he almost did I worried about whether he was alright or not." Matt said, looking down at the ground slightly. I gave him an awkward smile, hoping he wouldn't go into any more detail.

"What are you talking about Matt?" Shiro said, giving us a confused look. Matt looked at me with a sad expression.

"You didn't tell them?" He said. I gave him a small head shake.

"It wasn't important and it's not important now" Matt's face went from sad to angry quickly.

"What do you mean it wasn't important!? Of course it was important!" He shouted, shaking my shoulder slightly. Shiro stepped forward and pushed us apart slightly.

"Now now, calm down Matt. Keith, what did you not tell us?" Shiro asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. I scowled and looked away, hoping we could just drop it. Apparently it wasn't that easy.

"You still don't plan to tell them?!" Matt said, giving off a sad but angry expression. "If you don't tell them I will"

"It's not important. I know what I did so can we just dro-"

"Would you do it again?" Matt's question caught me off guard. I let out a sigh before nodding.

"Can you fill us in here?" Krolia said, aiming the question at Matt. Great, Krolia is gonna know too. I'm so dead.

"You remember Naxzela, right? And when we couldn't get through the shields and Lotor came?" The team nodded so Matt continued. "Well if Lotor didn't come, Keith would've flew himself straight into the shield!" I let out a sigh and looked away. I didn't want the team to know. I knew what I had almost done was stupid, but I felt like it was necessary. I would do it again without hesitation.

"W-What?" Pidge asked.

"Keith was going to fly himself into the shield in hopes that his impact would break it" 

"But... That would've killed you" Hunk said, giving me a sad look. Hunk is always so sweet and happy. It hurts everyone when he's sad.

"I knew that. But at the time it was my life over many others. Doesn't matter anyways seeing Lotor came" I mumbled, preparing myself for all the talk the team were about to give me.

"Keith, you-"

"I know it was dumb okay!? I didn't do it in the end, so it doesn't matter! Now can we just drop it?!" I shouted, hoping that maybe I could scare them into not talking about it. Apparently that didn't work.

"But you would've if Lotor didn't come. And you said you would do it again, didn't you?" Matt pointed out. Why does he keep exposing me?

"Are you sure he wasn't just pretending he was going to? Maybe he knew Lotor was going to come" Allura said. (I'm sorry if you like Allura but for some reason I always seem to turn her evil)

"He was serious. I could tell. He was aiming straight for that ship. What I'm more concerned about is the fact that he didn't tell anyone" Matt spoke. I turned away.

"It wasn't important. Even if I had done it... like I said. I-It was my life over theirs." 

"Keith, your life is important too. You shouldn't be trying to throw yourself away like you don't mean anything to the world" Shiro said, putting his hand on my shoulder and turning me around. I sighed, again.

"Well at the time I didn't mean anything to the world. I left Voltron, I didn't even know Krolia at the time so I had no family and I didn't exactly make any friends with the blade seeing almost every mission someone would die" I replied, not realising I was completely opening up to the team. Once I realised what I said I looked down at the ground awkwardly.

"You may not have been with Voltron at the time but it doesn't mean we stopped caring about you, buddy" Hunk said, giving me his amazing Hunk smile.

"Yeah, of course we still cared about you. You shouldn't try to sacrifice yourself for our sake" Lance said. Everyone else nodded in agreement.

"Thanks guys" I said, giving them a small smile.

"Now don't do it again. Or I might have to tackle you into a hug again but more violent. I am taller than you now after all" Matt boasted. I took a good look at Matt and realised that he was indeed taller than me now.

"Why is everyone else growing apart from me?" I said. Pidge coughed and frowned at me.

"At least you aren't the smallest on the team!" she said, crossing her arms. I laughed and ruffled her hair.

"So... does anyone want some nunvil?"

"CORAN"
