Keith One Shots

Based on season 4 when Keef almost threw himself into the shield.

Third P.O.V

Matt's face appeared on Keith's screen, looking worried but at the same time a hint of anger in it.

"We'll never penetrate those shields!" he shouted. A horrible thought crossed Keith's mind. A thought that everyone else would later regret. He was silenced for a few seconds before a determined look came upon his face.

"Maybe not with our weapons" The sentence was meant to come out strong and powerful but Keith's voice shook ever so slightly. Without another word, Keith tightened his grip on the controls and pushed forward at high speed.

"Wait, Keith, what are you doing!?" Matt shouted. "Keith no!"

The former paladin directed his ship towards the centre of the shield where the ship from was, ignoring Matt's pleas. He felt beads of sweat trickle down the side of his head as he aimed straight for the shield. He almost didn't believe he was about to do this. Before Keith had the chance to change his mind, he closed his eyes tight, almost as if he thought that would stop the pain when he made impact.

If he were here, he would tell you that it certainly didn't.

His ship collided with the shield, and the shield shattered, giving the rebels just enough time to shoot down the ship and stop Naxzela from exploding.

It had worked perfectly.

Fast forward a couple days and Voltron were starting to wonder what had happened to Keith. He hadn't said anything to them and Voltron hadn't had the chance to speak with the blade or the rebels since Naxzela. However, their confusion wouldn't stay for much longer.

"Princess, we have a call request from a nearby ship. Should we accept it?" Coran asked, typing on the Altean keyboard.

"Maybe it's that girl I flirted with a couple weeks back trying to get in touch with me" Lance smirked.

"Keep dreaming" Pidge remarked.

"Accept the call Coran." Allura stated. Coran did as he was told and immediately Kolivan appeared on the screen, the usual frown upon his face looking slightly more gloomy than usual.

"Greetings, paladins. I'm afraid I have some upsetting news for you. Do you grant me permission to land the hanger?" Kolivan asked, his expression remaining the same. (hanger? Is that even what it's called?)

Allura looked around at the others, silently asking for their opinion. The majority of the room nodded ever so slightly. Allura turned back to Kolivan.

"Permission granted"

The paladins were already waiting in the hanger by the time Kolivan made an appearance. It wasn't him alone. The paladins could faintly spot someone waiting behind in the ship as Kolivan exited.

"My apologies, Paladins, as I have discovered some very upsetting news" Kolivan started. "You all remember Naxzela, am I correct?"

"Where the planet almost blew up on us? Yeah, we remember" Pidge said, pushing her glasses properly onto her nose.

"Do any of you have any idea as to how the shield was broken in the end?"

"No, I'm afraid we don't. Didn't Keith and the rebels manage to just get through?" Allura asked. Kolivan's face darkened ever so slightly.
