I've tried writing this chapter like 5 times but I just cant seem to get it right I don't know why. Voltron ends in under two weeks and I just find that crazy. Should I continue this book once Voltron is done? Do I stay in the Voltron fandom or try and get into something else? I've never been in the situation where the show I watch is ending. It feels weird. Okay I'll stop ranting and get to the chapter. Here ya go!
Set in season two by the way!
It had all started with a simple mission. They were trying to steal a powerful chemical that had got into the wrong hands and could possibly destroy the whole universe if not destroyed itself. Nothing that much out of the unusual. The team had sneaked in, grabbed the bottle with the chemical in and escaped. However, they were spotted on the way out. The owner of the chemical was not happy and threw multiple potions at them as the team tried to escape. Unfortunately, one of the potions had hit Keith and he had passed out. The team escaped with Keith, put him in a pod and the next day he came out. Everything went back to normal and everything was okay. Or was it?
Third P.O.V
At this moment, the team were all gathered in the sofa room (someone told me the name of this room but I forgot it sorryyyy) just hanging out. Everyone was smiling and laughing. Well, almost everyone. Keith was sitting on the end of the sofa, eyes closed and head tilted back. He looked like he was about to fall asleep. Lance noticed this and decided to address it.
"Hey mullet, taking a nap?" Lance joked, grinning smugly at Keith. The red paladin's eyes remained closed as he let out a disapproving grunt. Lance narrowed his eyes at the lack of reaction.
"The sofa is for sitting on, not sleeping on" Shiro rolled his eyes at the blue paladin's remark and walked over to Keith.
"If you're tired Keith, you should go to bed" Shiro suggested, putting his hand on Keith's shoulder. Keith opened his eyes and grumbled before sleepily standing up. He slowly made his way out of the room, without saying goodbye. Everyone continued their conversations.
The next day Shiro entered the kitchen, he was surprised to see that everyone was there except Keith.
"Where's Keith?" He said, directing everyone's attention to him.
"I'm not sure Shiro. It's unlike him to be late to breakfast" Allura pointed out. Shiro nodded and left the room, heading straight to Keith's room. When he opened the door he was surprised to see that the red paladin was fast asleep. Weird, Shiro thought. Keith always got up on time, if not earlier. Shiro walked over to the red paladin and gently shook him awake. Keith grumbled and looked up at Shiro.
"Hey sleepy head, you slept in"
"I-I did?" Keith asked in confusion, rubbing his eyes. Shiro gave him a small nod. "Sorry, I didn't mean to"
"It's okay. Come on, let's go" Keith pulled himself up tiredly and put on his jacket. He didn't have any pyjamas on so getting ready was easy if he didn't need a shower. As the two walked down the corridor, Shiro took note of the way Keith was yawning every few seconds and how he seemed to be trying to force his eyes open. Once they entered the kitchen, Keith and Shiro both grabbed some food goo and sat at the table.
"So what were you up to mullet? It's not like you to sleep in" Lance remarked, finishing his food goo and putting his hands on the back of his head. Keith simply shrugged and let out another yawn, taking a spoonful of food goo.
"Paladins, we still have to discuss our next attack on Zarkon. We'll be meeting in the controls room in twenty minutes so make sure you are ready" Allura announced, typing something on an Altean computer. Everyone nodded and started to make their way out one by one, Keith being the last.
"Sorry 'm late" Keith said as he entered the controls room. He may have decided to spend a few seconds lying on his bed and he may have also fallen asleep but hey, at least he was only ten minutes late. Everyone except Shiro gave him an unimpressed glare as he flopped onto his chair.
"Keith, you've been acting weird today. It's not like you to be so... lazy" Allura said, frowning at him. Keith grunted at her and ignored her comment. Truth is, Keith knew something was wrong. He had been feeling tired ever since he had gotten out of that pod and even after sleeping, he felt like he was getting more tired. His legs felt like jelly and it was taking all his will power to keep his eyes open. He found himself starting to drift off during the meeting.
"Keith, are you okay?" Shiro asked, looking over at him. Keith opened his eyes a tiny bit only to find that his head was leaning on his control panel. He let out a small "yeah" but didn't move his head from the control panel. He tried to, but he just couldn't find the energy to. It felt like something was trying to pull him down, making gravity work twice as hard on him. Before he knew it he could feel Shiro's metal hand on his back.
"Guys, I think something is wrong with Keith" Shiro suggested, rubbing Keith's back gently.
"He just looks tired to me" Hunk said.
"Keith, what's going on?" Shiro squatted down to Keith's level and tilted Keith's head so it was facing him. He could see Keith's eyes desperately trying to keep themselves open.
"I-I feel... r-really tired. B-But it feels... u-unnatural.... A-As if... s-something's making t-this happen..." Keith mumbled, starting to trail off towards the end.
"Coran, can you do a scan on Keith?" Shiro asked, standing up properly. Coran nodded and signalled for Shiro to follow him. Shiro picked up Keith and made his way with Coran to the healing pod room. He then placed Keith on a table and Coran began scanning him with all kinds of weird equipment that Shiro was too afraid to ask about. Once Coran had finished, he typed on his Altean computer and looked back at Shiro.
"It seems that when Keith was hit with that potion, the potion caused Keith's sleeping affects to shut down. This means that Keith would get tired easily but sleeping wouldn't make him regain any type of energy" Coran stated. (Look it makes sense in my head okay)
"So how can we help him?" Shiro said, worry evident on his face. Coran began typing on his Altean computer again.
"I may be able to make some sort of cure but for now just look after him. He can go to sleep but make sure he is breathing okay and his pulse is good while asleep. We don't want him to fall asleep and never wake up, do we?" Coran said, acting as if he totally didn't just talk about someone dying. Shiro gave him a slow nod and knelt down in front of Keith who was half asleep.
"Keith, we're gonna sort this out okay?" Keith replied with a small nod just before his eyes slipped closed and he fell into a deep slumber. Shiro picked up the red paladin and began taking him to his room, praying Keith would be okay.
There will be a part two to this and I'm hoping it'll be before season eight. Also thank you so much for 18K reads you crazy people. Tell me your thoughts on the season eight trailer because honestly allurance is seeming pretty canon right now. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed!
