Okay so this'll probably be the last part for this one shot because I'm running out of ideas and I feel like if I write anymore the direction of it wont go the way all of you want it to. I'm glad you guys have really enjoyed it and if you want to feel free to publish an ending of your own or make it into your own story (also tag me in it because I'd love to read it).

Third P.O.V

Being the leader was always a difficult task for Keith.

Sure, he may have become a better leader after spending all that time on the space whale and growing better as a person, but that didn't he wouldn't have days where he struggles to keep his calm leader act up.

Today was one of those days.

After yesterdays scene of him running out the room sobbing hysterically, he was having trouble entering the meeting room. The team had seen him at his lowest point and he didn't want to face them today. It didn't help that his eyes were still red and puffy with bags under. He hadn't got much sleep and he'd felt like trash the entire night.

He peaked in the door, seeing that the rest of the team were all in the room. He knew he had to go in but he felt like someone was going to bring up yesterday's events.

Just walk in already..

Keith took a deep breath, before forcing his legs to walk into the room. The second he did everyone, including Lance who was holding hands with Allura, turned to face him. He sighed and walked to his seat, internally cringing at the looks the others were giving him. The air was filled with a heavy silence that Keith was finding unbearable.

"Sooo uh.... me and Allura will be right back.." Lance said, standing up and walking away with Allura, probably trying to delay an awkward conversation. Or maybe he was leaving to break the awkward silence, or maybe just to make out of Allura. Whatever reason it was it didn't matter because it still made Keith's heart hurt to know he was going with Allura. The second the two had left, the awkward silence continued.

He'll never love you...

He was just saying that so he wouldn't hurt your feelings..

Just get yourself together you coward...

"Did Lance come and apologise to you?" Shiro asked, pulling Keith out of his hole of thoughts. So Lance didn't do it on his own, he was forced to.

"Yeah... he did" Keith replied, sniffing slightly. He just wanted Lance to love him back.

"You love him, don't you?" Hunk said. Keith nodded and chuckled slightly, lowering his head.

"Whatever... I-It'll never happen" He said, a slight crack in his voice. "I-I told him and he said he'd consider it if things with Allura didn't work b-but I'm pretty sure he just told me that to stop me from being upset.."

"I know Lance, man. If he didn't like you he would've told you straight up" Hunk said, putting his hand on Keith's arm. Keith sniffed and wiped his watery eyes.

"Even if he planned on keeping his promise... h-he's loved Allura for so long and I don't think they'll break up anytime soon.." Keith didn't like this. It was meant to be a meeting, not a therapy session. He buried his face into his arms to hide his tears from everyone else. He was done with others seeing him cry. He was done with crying in general. He was just done.

"Hey... It's okay. I'm sure everything's gonna be fine." Shiro said, placing his hand on Keith's back.

"I should be happy because he's happy b-but I'm such a jerk I can't even bring myself t-to do that.." the black paladin said, sobbing into his arms. "I'm pathetic.."

"Please don't say those things Keith... You're not pathetic at all." Pidge said, a sad expression on her face. She got out of her chair and hugged Keith. The black paladin began to calm down a little but just as he did a kissing sound could be heard from outside.

Despite Lance's conversation with Keith last night, he was now outside the door making out with Allura.

Keith began banging his head against the table, praying for the pain in his heart to stop. Love was supposed to be happy. Love was supposed to be enjoyable. Love was supposed to change your life and make you one of the happiest people alive. From what Keith had experienced, love was an unending pain that hurt more than anything else in the world.

Pidge gently held Keith's head, stopping him from hurting himself anymore. She hated seeing Keith like this. From what Shiro had told her Keith's childhood had been a lonely one with a lot of sadness. She knew from what she had heard that Keith had trouble trusting people and even loving people. She could tell he'd got better at loving people over time and clearly fell more and more in love with Lance. For him to still not be able to love the person he wants to love, Pidge thought that must be heart breaking.

"W-What do you love about Lance, Keith?" Pidge whispered, making Keith look up at her with his teary eyes.

"E-Everything... His beautiful ocean eyes, his soft hair, his sun kissed skin. A-And when I kissed him his lips were so smooth and amazing a-and... a-and.." Keith trailed off and rubbed his eyes. Everyone else noticed his eyes light up the tiniest bit when he started talking about Lance but the light in his eyes faded when realisation hit him.

"You kissed Lance?" Hunk asked, shock on his face.

"Y-Yeah, I did. I-I didn't mean to. I couldn't help myself. I know it was wrong. H-He has Allura already.." Keith mumbled, resting his head in his arms again. "I-It just hurts..."

"I know Keith, I know." Pidge said, hugging Keith.

"I-I've put up with their flirting f-for so long... I-I don't wanna put up with it for any longer" Keith whispered. Hunk stood up and walked over to Keith, hugging him as well and Pidge. Eventually everyone else joined the hug too. After a few seconds of hugging Keith stood up from his chair.

"I'm gonna go back to my room seeing Allura and Lance aren't gonna come to the meeting..." he said, wiping his eyes. He walked to the door but stopped suddenly, realising he was going to have to walk past them kissing. Before he could make a choice Lance and Allura came walking back into the room, stopping when they saw Keith.

"Hey are you okay?" Lance said, making Keith's blood boil. He gritted his teeth before answering.

"Totally fine." He said, shoving past Lance before he could get another word in.

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

A week went by and nothing had improved. The team had slowly watched Keith's heart break more and more each day. His smile never existed, his laugh was never heard and his eyes slowly went from a vibrant violet to a dull grey. Krolia had eventually asked the others what was wrong, noticing her sons odd behaviour. The team had told her and she felt guilty. Leaving Keith was what made it hard for him to love in the first place.

As for Lance, he also felt guilty. He loved Allura and he couldn't change that even if he wanted to. Keith had refused to look him into the eyes and had been avoiding conversation with him for as long as possible. Lance, figuring there was nothing he could do, eventually stopped caring. He couldn't fix the problem so why should he try?

Lance stopped caring...

Keith stopped smiling...

And that was how it was for a long time...

Like I said, feel free to write your own version of this but please tag me because I'd love to see it. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate it and a happy new year. I've got new one shot plans for days so prepare yourself because some of them are angsty. What did you do on new years eve? I stayed in bed because I'm lazy. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed!
