It started four years ago.

2016.

It was New Year's Eve and it became a tradition of them to go to a friend's party. That year, it was Hoseok's.

Hoseok's apartment was filled with booze, chips, and sweaty bodies. They were not much people on his apartment but due to its size, the sweaty bodies were inevitable.

Jisoo sat down on the couch, red cup on her hand, chatting with her best friend, Seokjin who was with her since the beginning of high school. Even during college, the two would still hang out although their conflicting schedule exists. It's a surprise for other people that the two were still inseparable even with their busy schedules. With or without lovers, the two still valued each other's time. Well, Jisoo wasn't into dating, so Seokjin mostly had to juggle his time.

Seokjin's past girlfriends/ flings would most of the time be jealous of the said man's time with his best friend which would lead to him breaking up with them.

"Jisoo, I have this friend who's the same age as you. You should meet him," he suggested. Jisoo rolled his eyes at the older man.

"No. I told you I'm contented with my non-romantic life and besides, I don't need a man to be happy," she said while flipping her hair side to side. Seokjin laughed at her behavior.

He held his hand up in surrender. "Okay. But, if you want, just say it. I will help you, my bestfriend," he said with a wink.

Jisoo fake gagged at him which caused him to chuckle under his breath.

"You know," he said, "It would be nice to see you experience romance. You're 21 now. You're a beautiful young woman. You should experience it."

Jisoo drank her beer and laughed softly. "I don't need it. I told you I'm contented with this," gesturing herself, "I don't want to rush, you know that."

Seokjin nodded in understanding. "I know, I'm just worried about you. But if that's what you want," he told her, smiling softly. Jisoo returned his smile.

Suddenly, they hear people in the apartment counting down.

"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six.."

The two of them stared at each other and it felt like time stopped. Everything stopped. They were just staring into each other's eyes.

"four, three, two, one! Happy New Year!" everyone shouted.

A blonde woman came in between them, breaking their strange connection, and went straight to Seokjin to capture his lips.

Jisoo just stared at their way and felt her chest constricting, her stomach dropped, and her eyes stung. She didn't know why.

Seokjin just kissed the woman back. Jisoo quickly stood up and left, not wanting to feel that way again.

2017.

It was Yoongi's time to host a party on New Year's that year. But that time, it was only a few close friends of them.

Jisoo went to the kitchen to refill her cup when two hands suddenly covered her eyes. She let out a sigh. The person behind her tried to contain their laughter.

"Kim Seokjin, please stop. It's not amusing anymore," she said with a disappointed shake on her head. Seokjin pouted then dropped his hands.

"You're no fun," he told her childishly.

"Well, you're childish," she retorted.

Seokjin smirked. "That makes you also childish."

She rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever."
