Jisoo realized that unrequited love was really hard.

She'd seen it before. She'd seen it everywhere. That's why she was so afraid that she too would suffer it.

But, she hoped not this christmas. She hoped that the one she was so in love with felt the same way. 

Jisoo was about to open the door when she heard something.

  "A-Are you in love with me?"  

Then, there was silence. Jisoo felt her heart squeeze at those words. 

"Forget it."

Jisoo inhaled deeply before grabbing the knob again.

"N-No. I―"  

I'm so sorry, but I really need to prep you now, she thought.

"Mr. Jeon Jungkook. Your operation will start after an hour. We need to prep you, sir," she calmly declared. She then turned her stare to the floor and felt her chest constricting.

The patient's petals were red instead of yellow and she knew why. The young man was in love with the other patient.

Jisoo felt sorry for them. She wanted to do something, but couldn't. She just stood there, waiting for the patient to come with her. Just staring at the petals sadly. 

That was one of the reasons why she was so scared. Scared of falling in love. Unrequited love. Because she knew what will happen. She witnessed it all first hand. Many people would come to the hospital to undergo surgery for hanahaki disease or probably a broken heart, if that's even possible. 

After her shift, Jisoo grabbed her things to finally head out after hours in the hospital. She was about to go to the exit when someone called her name.

She turned around and face the person. There, in his coat and glasses, was Doctor Kim Seokjin and also the love of her life, if that's what she wanted.

Seokjin jogged towards her, "Hey, um, were you heading out?"

Jisoo coughed awkwardly and answered, "Uh, yes, Doc. Why? Do you need anything?"

Seokjin rubbed his nape and shifted. He gave her a nervous smile, "I was wondering, I'm actually on a break right now. There's a new coffee shop nearby, would you mind joining me for a coffee?"

Jisoo couldn't believe it. Was her wish finally coming true? Did her christmas present arrive early?

She felt her cheeks blush at his offer. She put a hand on her mouth to conceal the smile that was breaking through her face and her blush...her embarrassing blush. She nodded and gave him a thumbs up.

Seokjin broke into a grin, "Wow, well then, let's go."

He offered her his arm to take when suddenly a woman hastily passed between them. Jisoo couldn't help but chuckle at Seokjin's shocked face.

"You look so funny," she said in between her laughs. Seokjin playfully glared at her, trying not to smile. 

"Oh, am I? Guess who won't have a free slice of red velvet cake?"

"I was joking! I'm so sorry!"

"I thought you said I looked funny?" 

"No. You look good."
