How could he be with her?

She turned her head at his direction as if she sensed his stare.

He quickly diverted his eyes at the ball on his feet, not wanting to get caught. Kicking the ball briefly, he then looked up. Wrong move.

She was staring at his direction. At hi―Wait. No.

Taehyung turned around and saw a familiar guy sitting on the bench a few meters behind him. She was staring at him―the guy who didn't even her eyes and just profusely typing away at his laptop. Turning back around, Taehyung saw her frowning at the guy.

Sighing, he kicked the ball hard, almost hitting his teammate in the face. Why was she staring at that guy instead of him? When will she really notice him? When will Jung Yein finally see him and not just an acquaintance?

"Hey, buddy. You okay?" a voice suddenly appeared beside him.

With a groan, Taehyung ran his hand through his curly hair. "Yeah, fine. I guess."

His best friend looked at him with narrowed eyes before turning around. "Ah. Now I know. Your crush is here," he teased.

He glared at the former. "Shut the fuck up, Jimin. Stop calling her that."

"What? Your cutesy woopsy cr―" He didn't get a chance to finish his sentence when Taehyung hit him hard in the arm. Rubbing the spot, Jimin gave him the stink eye. "I was just teasing, man. No need to be violent."

"You deserve that," he replied, rolling his eyes, "Now, let's go practice for the game."

"No, man. Like when will you ask her out? It's been literally a year, man."

Taehyung narrowed his eyes. "You know I can't just ask her out. She's way out of my league."

"You mean you're a coward? Dude, you're a soccer player and she's a cheerleader. It's fucking meant to be." Jimin chuckled. "But, look at her though. Who looks that good while being tossed in the air?" he asked, gesturing to the cheer team practicing at the other side of the field. "Only Jung Yein."

Taehyung looked at them. At her. How could she be so perfect, so never-could-be-his? When would she realize that he and her belong―

"Ew, you perverts. Stop eyeing at those girls' bottoms,"

A young blonde woman―who they didn't even notice walking towards their way― gave both him and Jimin a disgusted look. Taehyung glared at her. "Excuse me, Sujeong. But, we weren't eyeing their―what did you call it―ah yes bottoms."

She raised her eyebrow. "Pervert, you were literally panting there. Ugh, you're so gross," she replied, disgust in her voice. She then walked towards the benches. Towards the guy behind them.

He turned his head to his friend. "She's fucking annoying."

Jimin laughed. "Behave. She's friends with Jiyeon."

"Oh, I know. Jiyeon wouldn't stop gushing about her."

"You only don't like Sujeong because of that article." That damn article. The one where she criticized him for missing a goal and called him sloppy and slow.

"Whatever. She's annoying." He turned around. "What about that guy? I forgot his name."

"That's Jeon Jungkook. Remember him? The one who made the campus chat app last year." The app that Taehyung quickly installed, hoping that he could anonymously chat with Yein. But, he didn't get the chance simply because he didn't know her code.
