"U-Uh...hi?"
He stood there wearing a surprised face, a faint blush gracing his cheeks.
Cute.
Wait what?
He quickly pulled down his hand and raised them again to rub his nape. I could see wounds on his arms that were very much like the wounds on my arms. A small corner on his forehead was hidden by a gauze.
Sensing my gaze, he looked up albeit shyly. I put my hands on my head as my head throbbed.
Suddenly, a picture came into my mind. A young man's back. Then like how fast it appeared, it was then gone.
He looked at me worriedly. "I-I'm sorry. Uh, I don't know why my feet dragged me here. It was just an...impulse, I think?" he spoke, sounding confused with himself.
I cleared my throat to straighten myself. "It's okay. I was just leaving anyway."
That caught his attention. "Really? I don't mean to pry, but where are you going at this hour?" he asked.
Not wanting to stare at his eyes more, I switched my gaze towards his hair and surprisingly, my hands itched to reach it as if they were familiar with it. I quickly hold my hands together, afraid that I would scare this man away. And also myself.
"I would ask you the same."
He coughed and rubbed his nape awkwardly. "I'm sorry. You're right. Well, I hope you'll have a good—"
"Will you accompany me?"
That surprised him and myself. I didn't expect myself to even say that.
Why am I acting weird? Ugh.
He looked at me with wide eyes, his ears and cheeks burning. Well, I guess I was not the only tomato here.
Swallowing my pride, I asked, "Please?"
Blinking, he nodded and the corner of his mouth curled up. "Uh, I guess. Besides, I got so bored in my room."
Trying to suppress a grin, I coughed. "Oh, thank you. I know what you feel."
We walked towards the small garden side by side as silence engulfed us. The silence was oddly comforting. It wasn't awkward.
His presence beside me strangely gave me comfort. It was like he was familiar to me that my body instinctively responded to him. How strange.
I slightly turned to look at him, who was staring ahead. His black was curly—which made me want to run my fingers through it so bad I didn't even know why. He had a jaw that can probably cut anything. His cheek had a faint scar and a small mole was evident under his small lips.
And his eyes—wow, his eyes— even from my angle, his eyes sparkled as if the whole galaxy resided inside them. They were so clear and they glistened even under dim lights. They were made to brighten you whenever they met your own.
"Are you done studying me? Because we have arrived," he suddenly spoke or teased.
I unfortunately blushed when he said those words and quickly looked away. Clearing my throat, I bravely answered, "I was actually not done. Too bad, we arrived so fast."
He stared at me, didn't expect me to answer him like that. He looked down at the ground—I actually saw him smiling. So cute.
We both sat down at the bench, not talking and just staring ahead. The soft rustling of the leaves enveloped us.
