It was a hot sunny day when Yein knew something was about to happen.
Something bad.
Something tragic.
Something she would lost.
Gripping her phone tightly, she squirmed in her seat as her friends chat beside her.
"Yein, are you okay?" Sujeong asked, worry etching her face. Jiae stared at the youngest one in concern.
Yein fake laughed to ease their concern towards her. "No, it just feels so hot in here. What did Mijoo say again?" she said awkwardly with a shaky smile.
The two still noticed their friend's discomfort, but continued to chat to relax her. But it didn't help her.
She glanced at her cellphone with worry. Is he okay? I'm gonna kill him myself if he does something stupid.
Her guts churned at the thought of him doing something stupid. Something horrible.
"Yein!"
The said young woman flinched and stared at them. "W-What?"
Jiae sighed. "Look, just go. We can meet up this weekend. You don't look so well," she told her, eyebrows scrunched in worry.
"I told you—"
"Yein, just go," Jiae sternly said, her eyes glaring at her.
Yein sighed and stood up. "Okay, I'll call you guys later. I'm just gonna be quick."
After quickly bidding their goodbyes, she then hastily went inside her car and drove—her hands shaking. In her heart, she hoped and prayed that everything is fine; and that her gut is wrong.
When she finally arrived, she ran to the familiar apartment building. She ran so fast to the elevator, her legs bouncing up and her heart racing in fast rhythm.
Her legs stopped in front of the apartment she grew to love. Not wasting any moment, she quickly typed in the pass code and went inside. Inside, the whole apartment was dark—the curtains where closed, no lights were switched on, and no sunlight seeped in to brighten the room.
He wouldn't...
Her breath hitched and her stomach dropped at the possibility that something bad really did happen. Something she tried so hard to fight for months.
With heart racing and tears stinging her eyes, she ran towards the bed room she knew where he would be found. Praying a silent prayer in her mind, she opened it, only to found it empty.
She went to bathroom and still no him.
She checked everything, but she still couldn't find him.
Panic surged inside her as tears helplessly fell down. She couldn't find him and she's running out of time. God knows what he was doing right now.
He wasn't in his apartment. That means one thing.
She quickly ran towards the stairs. Her shaky legs brought her to the one place where he would surely be.
Please, I beg you. Don't do it.
The sight in front of her betrayed her. It broke her heart.
There he was, standing over the railings nearing the edge. One more step and he will have to say good bye to his life.
Suddenly feeling anger and frustration, Yein stalked towards him.
