"Why were you here again?"
Sujeong was determined to move on. From him. From the pain. From the heartbreak.
That was why when her friend, Mijoo, suggested her to take a vacation, she gladly took it. Now, she was seating inside the plane feeling uncomfortable than ever. She was seated between two guys―one who was immediately snoring the minute he arrived on his seat, and one who was greeting everyone with an innocent grin.
"Good morning! Isn't this flight exciting?" the latter beside her excitedly spoke to the old lady across. The lady just gave him a hesitant smile which he returned with an even bigger smile.
Satisfied with his lovely interaction with the old lady, he turned his head towards Sujeong with a friendly smile. "Hi! I'm Taehyung. I believe we'll be together here for thirteen hours. So, what's your name?" he said, grinning at her.
Sujeong couldn't help but stare at his boxy grin. She looked up at him and answered with hesitation lacing in her voice, "I-I'm Sujeong."
He grinned widely―which worried her that it would split his face because of how wide his grin was―and giggled. "Nice to meet you! I hope you're enjoying this flight," he said with so much enthusiasm.
She looked at him with worried eyes, but still gave him a small smile. "Are you this enthusiastic?" she asked.
He laughed loudly at her question causing some passengers around them to glare at him. "What do you think?" he shot back, winking.
She gave him a forced smile. "I think you need to um...tone your excitement down a bit," she carefully said before looking around them, "Other passengers are probably mad at you right now."
Taehyung just gave the passengers a sheepish smile and muttered a small, "Sorry."
Sujeong softly chuckled before putting her airpods on as the plane started to soar into the sky. Even with her loud music, she could still the snores and the excited laugh of her seatmates. Shaking her head, she tried to push everything away and focused on the book she was holding.
"Oh! You're reading The Humans by Matt Haig!" the person beside her suddenly exclaimed. Passengers around them glared at him―even the flight attendants who earlier gave them blinding smiles. Sujeong certainly heard him and shook her head.
She lowered the volume of her phone and faced him―who was already grinning at her. "Yes, but can you please lower your voice? You're kinda attracting everyone's attention," she politely said, already feeling embarrassed by his act.
The young man nodded and smiled shyly. "I'm really sorry. I just can't contain my excitement when it comes to Matt Haig's books because they're amazing. That one is one of my favorites of his," he gushed while lowering his voice, his eyes literally shining.
Sujeong couldn't help but grin at him. It made her glad that someone thought the same as hers. Her ex-boyfriend didn't even give a damn about the books she liked―or even what she liked. It was all about him. Now, she was there in a 12-hour flight to Venice, sitting beside a stranger who had the same likes as hers. Well, let's just say...it would be an interesting flight.
"Really?" she asked, couldn't contain her joy, "I'm still at part one tho, but it's great. I'm not disappointed."
Taehyung widely smiled at her. "You better not be because as you read more, the more it would be fascinating," he said with a dramatic voice.
Grinning, she turned to her book before jokingly saying, "I can't read it more if you keep interrupting me."
The person beside her chuckled. And let's just say she certainly couldn't read it more.
