"Jisoo, I know you're still bummed that you didn't get to be in the lead cast, but you need to just...let it go."
The said woman chuckled dryly. "Yeah right. Only twenty seconds of exposure during the whole duration of the film. Of course, I need to let it go," she shot back, sarcasm lacing her voice.
Her fellow actress couldn't help but feel sad for her. She tried to give her a smile and muttered, "At least you'll get exposure. Unlike those people who are still dreaming and would die to have what you have right now."
Jisoo sighed in frustration, her eyes suddenly tearing up. "But the thing is, I'm almost three years into my so-called career and I'm still not going anywhere. When will I fucking get my big break?" she asked, facing her colleague.
The latter didn't know what to say. She knew how hard working and great at acting Jisoo was that it even made her confuse why she still didn't get the spotlight she deserved.
"You know what, don't answer that. I already know the answer to that question," Jisoo dejectedly said. Her colleague sighed sadly and patted her shoulder before leaving to retouch her makeup.
"Attention! Everyone!" the director suddenly yelled. Everyone's attention was on him.
"Okay, so our lead actor, Kim Seokjin just arrived. But, he's already ready. I want all the actors and the cameos to get ready because we'll be shooting in less than five minutes. Do all your retouches and such quickly," he told everyone. They then hastily got back to work.
Jisoo looked at herself in the mirror and laughed bitterly. What's the point of retouching my makeup if my face won't be focused in the screen anyway?
"Hey, are you okay?"
She turned to look at the person behind her and quickly stood up. "Uh...Y-Yeah," she nervously touched her hair then hastily bowed, "Hello, Mr. Kim Seokjin. it's a pleasure to be working with you."
Seokjin chuckled. "Please, don't call me 'Mister'. I'm not your boss or anything. We're colleagues anyway," he said with ease.
Jisoo gave him a tight smile. "But, I'm actually just a cameo. So, it's uh, valid for me to call you that."
Seokjin just smiled at her and answered, "But you're still an actor, like me. So that makes us colleagues because we're in the same film even though you're a cameo."
"Yeah, right," she replied, hesitantly nodding at him. The man still smiled at her widely.
"You know, you should never give up and stick to just being a cameo. I know that you can be more than that. I know you'll be the lead soon. Don't lose hope," he said, looking in her eyes with sincerity.
Jisoo felt like crying when he told her those words. Hope was filling her heart, the one that she was sure won't go away anytime soon. "I—"
"Okay, everyone! Get to your places!"
"Well then, good luck..." he said as he looked at her with questioning eyes.
"Jisoo. Seo Jisoo."
With that, Seokjin grinned. "Good luck, Seo Jisoo. I hope we'd get to work together again soon. With you as the lead," he told her, still grinning at her like the sunshine he was.
He did. He wanted to see her one day in the spotlight—finally reaching her dreams—because he knew she could do it. Even if they just met, he knew right at that moment that he believed in her. Maybe one day he could see her beside him in that spotlight.
Jisoo couldn't help but grinned back at him, albeit shyly. "It would be an honor. Good luck to you too."
"I believe in you. Remember that," he sincerely said with a smile. Jisoo's grin became wide and tears were welling up her eyes.
He turned around to get to his place, still with that grin etching his face. Jisoo was far behind him, still grinning and more motivated than before.
He gave her another reason to work hard for the spotlight she deserved. Hopefully, she'd reach it one day.
And, she did.
