A New Beginning (Adopted by Ariana Grande and Jai Brooks)

Jai and I run out to the car. We get in, buckle, and he pulls out of the driveway going as fast as he can. I'm crying and he's pretending to be strong but I can see the tears rolling down his cheek.

"How far away is the hospital?" I ask.

"About 30 minutes. It's the most advanced hospital in LA. Only people with severe injuries and diseases go there." He says.

We're approaching a green light. As we come close it turns yellow.

"Shit." I hear Jai mumble.

I see his hands shaking. The light turns red right as we get to it but Jai doesn't care, he runs it, nearly causing another car accident. I hear a bunch of horns beep. Jai just holds up with finger.

"Stupid cunts." He mumbles.

Suddenly I hear a siren. I turn around to look. There's a police car behind us.

"Oh look Jai. A cop. Great. Nice work." I say sarcastically.

"Fuck!" He yells pulling over.

I see Jai's hands shaking nervously. The cop comes to the window and taps on it. Jai rolls down the window.

"License and-" the officer begins but Jai cuts him off.

"Alright listen here buddy. My girlfriend got in a serious car accident and has severe injuries. She might even be in a frickin coma okay? So if you wanna follow me down to frickin Rainbows Hospital, be my guest. I dont care how much you're gonna charge me, you can do it there because I need to get there and I need to get there fast. I'll pay as much as you frickin want I just need to get there!" He yells and begins crying hard.

The officer stands there shocked. He looks at me and then back at Jai.

"Please. Please you can charge me when we get there. PLEASE." Jai begs.

The officer sighs.

"Let me go in front of you, you'll get there faster." The officer says.

"Thank you. Thank you so much." Jai says.

The officer goes back to his car, turns on his sirens and drives in front of us. Jai follows. We continue to speed to the hospital following the cop car. We make it there in about 10 minutes thanks to the officer.

Jai and I get out of the car and Jai gives the keys to a valet parker. The officer comes over to us.

"Thank you so much." Jai says.

"You're welcome. Now go see your girlfriend. Good luck." He says.

We run off into the buildings main entrance.

The lady looks at us.

"We - we need to see - see Ariana Grande." Jai paints, completely out of breath.

"Names?" She asks us.

"I'm Jai Brooks and this is Amelia Grande-Brooks" Jai tells her.

"And you're family correct?" She asks.

"Yes." Jai responds.

She scribbles our names down on a sticker thing and signs in.

"Put this on and don't lose it." She tells us, handing us a each a sticker.

We put it on.

"2nd floor, Room 106." She tells us.

"Thank you so much!" Jai says.

We run to the elevator and Jai presses the button a million times.

He starts pacing.

"Fuck what's taking so long." He mumbles.

A few seconds later the doors open. Jai and I run in and he hits the number 2. The doors shut and we go up. A few seconds later the doors open. We walk out and find ourself in another main office.

"For the love of God." I hear Jai whisper.

He runs up to the desk. I'm starting to feel weak, but I drag behind him. I need to see Ariana.

"We're here to see Ariana Grande." He says.

We show the lady our badges.

"Go ahead. Take a left down that hall and it's the 4th room on the right." She says.

"Thanks!" Jai says.

We run to the room. Jai burst in without knocking.

"Ari?!" He says.

There's a doctor and 2 nurses by her bed. Jai runs to Ariana's bed side.

"What's wrong?! How is she?!" He asks.

He looks at her and his eyes fill with more tears. I stay by the door. I'm not ready to see Ariana yet.

"Mr Brooks?" The doctor asks.

"Yes yes I'm Jai... Mr. Brooks... whatever you wanna call me just tell me what's wrong with her? Is she gonna be okay?!" He asks panicking like crazy.

"Calm down Mr. Brooks. Take a breath." He tells him.

Jai does as he says. Once he's a little less panicky the doctor begins talking again.

"Mr. Brooks, Ariana is in a coma. She has a broken nose and her left wrist is sprained. We're hoping she will wake up, but sadly, we can't say anything for sure. We'll leave you and your daughter alone with her but a nurse will come in frequently to make sure everything is okay." The doctor tells Jai.

Jai weakly nods his head.

He looks at Ariana.

Just stares at her with a blank expression, not knowing what to do or say.

The doctor walks out with the 2 nurses, giving me a full view of Ariana.

Her nose is swollen and her wrist is wrapped in a medical wrap.

She lays in the hospital bed with her eyes shut. She looks like she's asleep. I wish she was just asleep... I begin to cry.

I walk over to the right side of the bed where Jai has now sitting. He pulled up one of the chairs. He holds her right has in his. I see tears dribbling down his cheeks.

"Why?" He whispers.

Later that evening

Jai hasn't taken his eyes off Ariana since we got here. He's still holding onto her hand. He made me call the boys and Frankie and tell them what happened. They weren't allowed to come and visit. Not until tomorrow.

Jai hasn't eaten or drank anything the whole time we've been here. He's been offered food but he wouldn't take it. He said it would make him sick.

The time is now 9pm.

A nurse enters the room.

She checks everything she's been checking all day, every half hour to be specific.

"Will you two be staying the night?" She asks us.

"Yes." Jai says weakly, not even looking up.

"Okay, I'll continue to check on her throughout the night. Ring the buzzer if you need anything." She says and then walks out.

My eyes slowly close and the sounds of Ariana's heart monitor put me to sleep.
