I watched from the stairs quietly as Asuna was sobbing in the arms of my sister and mother.
"'Kazuto, what happened?" my mother asks me.
I open my mouth to speak but another voice takes over my own.
"Everything is set for dinner, mother."
Asuna's body flinches at that moment.
Alice bows in front of my mother as my mother smiles back to her. "Thank you, Alice, also we've spoken about this before, please do not address me as 'mother', instead I prefer Mrs. Kiigaya."
"Understood, Mrs. Kirigaya."
Alice bows again, bashfully, before joining me by the staircase.
Cut me some slack, Alice! You abandoned me with Asuna in my room as I was trying to explain to Asuna the misunderstanding she had walked in on after you were trying to kiss me! You're the last person I want to talk to right now!
"Kazuto, is Asuna alright?" she says, in her typical non-emotionless voice.
"I.., don't know" I replied honestly as my fist clenches.
"You do not know if she is alright?"
"No- I lied. Asuna's not alright."
"Oh?"
"...and neither am I," I replied coldly.
"Why are you not alright?"
"Because-
Why do you think I'm not ok Alice?
It should be obvious to you why I'm not ok!
Why do you think Asuna's crying?
I exhale a deep breath and face Alice with saddened yet serious eyes.
"Because of you."
