Asuna's expecting | chapter five

Occasionally he would look up from his phone and smile at her, yet he spent most of his time nervously fidgeting beside her.

Asuna, who found his nervousness funny in the beginning, couldn't help but chuckle at the way her boyfriend was acting, since he's never the type of person to get that nervous around her, even on their dates.

The more he remained this way, the more Asuna suspected something wasn't right.

While watching Kazuto nervously look down upon his phone with a raised eyebrow, Asuna could not handle the way Kazuto was acting.

She couldn't help but think that for some reason her boyfriend was ignoring her.

Was he ignoring her?

Did she do something wrong?

Why would he be ignoring her?

Asuna was full of growing concern, she didn't like how Kazuto was acting.

She decides to address this.

"Kirito, is everything ok?"

Kazuto looks up from his phone screen when he feels Asuna resting her hand upon his.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine." He replies with a quick smile before quickly looking back at his phone screen, avoiding any longer eye-contact with her.

did he just look away from her?

Asuna, still being unconvinced, gently squeezes his hand, causing him to look up at her once more.

"Then why do I get the feeling that you're avoiding me?" she asks, slightly pouting.

Kazuto blushes by her cuteness, while nervously scratching his cheek with his free hand and lets out a fake chuckle.

"A-avoiding you? W-why would I be avoiding you?... I showed up for our date, right? If I was avoiding you, why would I show up?"

Asuna sighs at his response. "So if you're not avoiding me, why are you so nervous today?"

Kazuto's pulse rate quickens.

"W-what do you mean?"

"You know exactly what I mean, Kirito."

"I-I don't know what you mean, Asuna."

Asuna continues her pouting.

"You're not fooling me, mister, you're never this nervous around me..."

"I-I'm not?"

Asuna holds both of Kirito's hands from opposite the table.

As their hand's touch, their eyes lock onto each other.

"Kirito, I know you better than anyone..."

"Asuna..."

"What's really up?...and this time, the truth."

Asuna always spoke in a soft and loving tone to him, which made it hard for Kazuto not to keep secrets from her.

The more concern he noticed growing in Asuna's eyes, the more he was tempted to tell her.

How was he going to tell Asuna about their call from last night?

He had no idea how and where to start.

Kazuto didn't even know how to ask her if she was pregnant, he couldn't even stomach the idea of her being pregnant.

After all, they both have never done 'it' yet in the real world, since they are not married in real life yet.
