Nearly losing you | Kirito x Asuna| part 1

"There was an accident!?"

All I could hear was the faint whispers of my friends as they stare at me while I scream down the phone.

The music playing in the background becomes distorted as my heart sinks further into my chest.

"Kazu, buddy?"

I feel one of my friends place their hand on my shoulder and call my name a few times, but I can't respond.

My heart beats loudly in my head, my thoughts fill with scenarios I'd fear the most.

I clench my teeth.

Asuna...was in an accident.

I hear the policeman on the line continue talking but can't seem to bring myself to hear what he has to say.

Here I am, at a friend's graduation party, having a good time, while Asuna's out there in pain and scared.

I should have just gone shopping with Asuna, Liz and Silica even if there was nothing in it for me. Asuna did invite me along but I declined, thinking it would be nice for the girls to have some time with each other since they've all been busy with school and Uni coursework.

...what the hell was I thinking!?

Without saying anything, I grab my jacket and rush out of the party. I hear my friends call after me but ignore them.

A chilly nighttime breeze fills my lungs as I make my way out the door.

I rush towards my bike while talking to the policeman on the phone.

"How bad was the accident!?"

"Judging from the impact of the crash,-"

There was a crash!? ...Oh God, Asuna!

"It seems that not much damage has been done to the persons within the car, yet the main driver seems to be in shock and refusing to leave the car...the two other persons that were in the car have been already checked up by the medical team but the driver has not..."

Oh shit! Asuna's the only one with her license!..that means Asuna was the driver!

"W-where did this crash happen!?"

"Upon the highway that leads from the Onazu Shopping Center."

Why the hell wasn't I with the girls!?

"I'll be right there!"

I end the call and place my helmet onto my head while jumping onto my motorbike.

I place the visor screen over my eyes and rev my engine.

Asuna...I'm on my way!

As I speed down the Tokyo highway, making my way to the location where Asuna was, I clench my teeth as flashbacks of earlier play in my head.

"Are you sure you don't want to come shopping with us?" Asuna asks while placing a sandwich in front of me.

I chuckle and shake my head while picking up the sandwich. 

"Hideaki invited me to his birthday party, besides, you, Liz and Silica haven't been able to hang out together in a while due to coursework, right?"

She nods, smiles while sitting down beside me while clasping her hands together. 

"You're right! It'll be nice to get together with the girls after being so busy and pre-occupied  for such a long time!"
