The extent of Asuna's love ~ chapter 10

I end up throwing myself into Asuna's arms in a tight embrace, sobbing while holding her tightly.

"Asuna!"

"A-Asuna! I'm so sorry Asuna!"

There I was, at my weakest point, in the arms of the person I love most. 

I feel her slender arms wrap around my back as she returns the embrace.

She whispers to me softly while slowly stroking my hair.

"Shhh, it's okay Kirito, it's okay..."

Asuna then rests my head onto her chest. 

I open my mouth to speak between my sobs.

I was wetting Asuna's hospital gown with my tears.

she didn't seem to mind. 

"A-Asuna, t-the doctor,-"

"He told you what happened..."

"T-that y-you-"

"...risked my life to save you, in many ways?"

I nod, my teeth clenched, my embrace becoming stronger.

I then lift my head from her chest slowly and face her, looking into her eyes.

I noticed tears streaming down her face and wiped them with my thumb. 

"I'm sorry..." she replies, softly crying, yet smiles lovingly as she does so.

In that instant, as I hear her say those words to me, apologizing for all the transfusions she had done for my sake, I hold her cheek and softly stroke it, while clearing my throat and sniffling as I speak, doing my best to not cry, yet both our voices had sounded shaken. 

"Asuna, why would you do that for me?"

"Kirito, I-I had no choice."

"W-what do you mean? I don't understand..."

"Kirito, you were really unwell, I couldn't stand it." 

"I-I was?"

She nods slowly, sniffling.

"Asuna...giving me your nutrients, your iron, your blood..."

"I had to save you."

"Asuna, t-that's way too much though! You did that for six whole months..."

"I know that, but you were going to be a goner if I didn't do what I did!" 

"I-it was that bad?"

"I died inside every time I had watched you suffer in both worlds...I had to do something Kirito."

"A-Asuna..."

We both blush at the same time.  

"Even if it meant risking my life for you, I would have done anything to save you...because Kirito, I love you, I really do, more then anyone and anything in my life, I couldn't bear to face a world without you."

"Me too, I love you so much Asuna, so much that...I thought about you every day when we were apart, how I missed that voice of the person I loved, how I missed seeing your smile."

I watch as Asuna places her hand upon my cheek, I grab it and hold it there while my other hand is on her cheek. 

"My...my beloved Kirito..."

"Asuna, sometimes...I don't deserve you, you're amazing, kind, strong-"

She interrupts me mid-sentence. 

"I'm all those things, only because I have you, Kirito."

"R-really?"

"Yes, you bring out the best in me...I stand with your strength, I smile from the love you give me and I'm kind because you taught me what love is."

My blush darkens, I feel my pulse accelerate. 

"Asuna."

"Thank you Kirito, so much..."

"W-what for?"

"For loving me!" She says, between sobs as she tilts her head, closes her eyes and smiles lovingly at me, tears still rolling down her face.

I gasp quietly, a warm feeling reaches my body, a feeling I could never describe, that I always feel when I'm with Asuna.

Without saying anything further, at that moment, after her words, I place my lips on her own lips.

Her hands intertwine with my own as she kisses me back, with passion.

I deepen the kiss, holding her shoulders gently as we explore each other's mouths, slowly and tenderly. 

Our souls connect at that moment, our love for one another reaches the high heavens, through our passionate kisses. 

This all made me realize the extent of Asuna's love, of how much she truly loved me.
