Asuna is Kirito's forever | Kirito x Asuna

It was a warm Friday spring afternoon in the Yokahama North General Hospital. Outside, the trees were swaying in a gentle breeze and the flowers were blooming. The quiet outside area of the hospital was full of chatter, as patients were allowed to be out and about from their beds to enjoy the warm air, well all but one patient.

Kazuto Kirigaya sat by his window in his hospital bed, sighing while watching the other patients from the window.

"Only a few more weeks, Kazuto...hang in there," he mutters to himself while resting his head on his hands near the window, trying to soak in whatever sunlight he could.

Kazuto's current condition after being in a coma for two years meant that his immune system was at its weakest, meaning that he was forced to stay inside at all times because even the smallest of infections could put his health at a dangerous risk, it was as if one cold could kill him.

While it worried him sometimes, he was more fed-up with being indoors all the time, walking around the hospital slowly was the only exercise he was getting and the only enjoyment out of being in his bed. Many people visit him when they can, such as his little sister Suguha when she's not required to be in school, as well as his friends from school and even his mother who comes to check up on him and keep him company when she's not pre-occupied with work.

The person who mostly makes times for Kazuto though, out of everyone, was his girlfriend, Asuna Yuuki. While being in the same coma as Kazuto, under different circumstances, Asuna was able to heal quicker and by the time she had awoken and started walking again, she was out of the hospital by three months. Kazuto was glad that his girlfriend was feeling healthy and happy yet sometimes wished she could stay by his side at all times, which of course, she could not, as she was starting her first year of University but tried to visit when she could, which she always did.

Asuna would often stay by Kazuto's side for as long as her schedule would let her, bringing him things such as cakes she bakes with her friends for him, sandwiches made by her which he loves as well as sitting and lying beside him on his hospital bed while talking about her general day with him and keeping him updated with everything that goes on.

While Kazuto gets lost in thought as he looks at the clear sky, he hears a faint knock on the door.

"Kirito, are you awake?"

He smiles to himself as he recognizes a sweet-sounding voice that belonged to someone he truly loved.

It was Asuna's voice.

"Yeah, I'm awake."

He watches as the door opens and in walks Asuna, with her chestnut-colored hair slightly tied back in a plait that rested on her shoulder. She was wearing her normal school uniform and was holding her school bag in her hands.

As soon as she walks in and sees Kazuto, her expression lights up as she greets him with a smile and walks up to his bed.

"Hello Kirito, how are you doing today?"

Kazuto waves and smiles at her.

"I'm doing good, but I'm even better now."

Asuna walks up to the side of his bed and wraps her arms around him, hugging him softly, to which he hugs her back.

As Asuna pulls back from the hug and stares into Kazuto's eyes lovingly, she takes a minute to look around the room, while Kazuto watches her, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

"Asuna?"

"Hmmm...no wonder you're bored all the time, this room is so dull."

"I-I'm not bored all the time...not when you visit at least..." he says while scratching his cheek nervously and slightly blushing.
