The extent of Asuna's love ~ chapter 4

Without thinking, when I got to the section Asuna was in within the ward, I stood near the curtains that were covering where her room was.

Asuna, I'm here.

I started having flashbacks of when I first visited her in a hospital when we reunited all those years ago after surviving the death game known as SAO.

A terrifying image appears in my mind, one I have imagined before, of Asuna in a coma with her heart monitor stopping and reaching a flatline. Her lifeless body would lay there, alone with no one around her, including me.

Shit! Why can't I just open the goddamn curtain?!

I feel tears rush to my eyes once again as I shake my head and mutter to myself.

Asuna's behind this curtain, probably sitting upright, waiting for you, her skin reflecting the daylight, as she did when you reunited with her all those years ago.

I take a deep breath and open the curtain as fast as possible.

My eyes widen, my mouth opens.

And there she was, as I expected her to be.

Asuna was sat upright in her hospital bed, looking in the direction of her window, which gave her a nice view of the outside.
She turns around as she hears me gasp softly.

Our eyes meet.

She looks at me in surprise, but before she could reach her arm outwards to me, I throw myself onto her in a tight embrace.

"Asuna!"
