Summary: Corbyn has to wake his big brother up, but Jonah sleeps like a corpse
Corbyn's POV
" Corbs!? Baby, go wake up Joan!" The young boy heard his father call from the kitchen." Okay, Daddy." He hopped off the couch and skipped up the steps. It was around 9:30 and Saturday meaning Jonah wouldn't be up anytime soon. The first grader didn't bother knocking, simply pushing the door open. His gray curtains had a small crack in them, allowing a sliver of pale sunlight to peak into the otherwise dark room." Jonie? Are you up?" He was met with silence, causing him to open the door fully and walk in." Jonie?" He called, stopping at the head of his bed. He placed his small hands on his shoulders, shaking the larger gently." Jo-Jo?" Nothing, his body reminded completely still. Corbyn's brow furrowed as he pouted." Jonie! Wake up." He whined, straddling his hips. Corbyn looked over him carefully. Noticing how still his chest was, almost like he wasn't breathing." Jonie?" His voice grew softer and higher in pitch. Worry darkening his frozen pools." Jonah, this isn't funny. Wake up." Tears began pricking in his faded orbs." Jonah." He whimpered, still absolutely nothing. His fingers didn't twitch, his eyes didn't move under his pale lids, and he didn't make a sound. Corbyn buried his face into the older's chest. The quiet sobs escaping his throat completely drowned out his beating heart.Jonah's POV
His neck became wet and warm as he finally registered the light weight on his chest. He groaned softly in annoyance, knowing it was his little brother. And no amount of love could make up for waking him up before noon on the weekend. Steel blue pools became visible, drifting down to the boy laying against his chest. His small body was shaking slightly, gentle whimpers filling the air." Bean? Are you crying?" He rasped, voice husky. Teary eyes met his, flooding with more water as he wrapped his arms tightly around his neck." Jonie! You're okay!" He cried, hiding his face in the crook of his neck." Of course I'm okay. What did you think happened?" He asked, gently pulling him away to wipe the moist streaks from his red cheeks." I-I tried to wa-wake you u-up, but you wou-ldn't. I got sca-scared." He leaned into his loving touch, small fingers encircling his wrist. Every feature of Jonah's face softened at the confession." I'm sorry, baby boy. I didn't mean to scare you." He kissed his forehead, holding Corbyn close to his chest." I don't want you to leave me." The larger smiled down at him." I never will, it's always going to be you and me." He gave his baby brother an Eskimo kiss." Promise?" He held up his tiny pinkie, Jonah didn't hesitate to hook it with his own." I promise. I love you, baby boy." He pressed another kiss to his forehead." I love you, too, Jonie." He rested his cheek against his pec. Tired after his break down just minutes ago." Let's go get some breakfast, okay?" He picked him up, carrying him out of his room and into the hallway. Short legs constricting his waist. Being woken up early on Saturdays still wasn't his favorite thing in the world, but Corbyn made everything a little more bearable.563
