So, as the title suggests I'm not the biggest fan of the video for Big Plans. I found it really disappointing when comparing it to the song and here's why:
1. The Boys and the Beat
The boys were far too mellow and laid back for a beat like that. It's such an easy song to dance and bop along with and they barely did anything. If you were lucky, one of them would nod their head on occasion. When they did try to act energetic, it was off beat. They proved with " Hooked" and " Trust Fund Baby" that they can indeed be as hyper as their beats. So, why weren't they?2. The Lip-singing
There were moments in the song where they were mouthing the parts they weren't singing in. Take the chorus for example; there is a very possible chance that everyone in the group was singing, but you can only hear Jack and Zach. So, why are Jonah, Corbyn, and Daniel mouthing the words?3. The Message of the Song
In my mind, the song talks about how this person is promising their lover that things will improve. I believe it's a rags to riches type thing, so why did the video just have them in this digitized world? I understand the idea behind it, they had each member grow to the size of a well known monument to show that one day, I'll be as big as this. That one I'll be as famous as the Pyramids or the Eiffel Tower. I get that, but I personally feel it would better to tell the story of how they started at the bottom and ended up at the top.4. It was Just Boring
This is my final reason for not enjoying the video, it just wasn't interesting. Don't get me wrong, I don't want another " 8 Letters" situation where the visuals have nothing to do with the song, but come on. They know they could've done something to make it more enjoyable to watch. So, that's my opinion of the video. If you like it then that's great, feel free to tell me why because I want to like it. The sound is so good and I want to love the video just as much. Anyway, that's all I have to say. See you guys later today when I post the second part to Taken.
