Summary: Jonah has to protect Corbyn, even... even if it kills him
Corbyn's POV
" I really don't think this is a good idea, Corbs," steel-blue trailing slowly after passing cars, barely glancing at his brother." It'll be fine, Joan. It's only a party. You go to them all the time," trees whizzing by in drown and green blurs. Gone before Corbyn could truly look at them.
" I go to parties thrown by people I know. You have no idea who these people are," the Kia coming to a rumbling halt. Jonah's neck twisting to fully look at him.
" Abby knows them," the words were muttered, thick breath leaving the glass cloudy. Scolding a nearby murder of crows.
" You don't even like Abby!"
" That's not the point! These aren't just strangers! And the other kids from my school will be there," glaring blue fixed on his reflection," I hate when you get like this! I'm not a kid anymore, Jonah!"
Gentle fingers dug into warm temples, pale lids falling closed. A heavy breath passing between parted lips," Corbyn, look at me," the softening of his voice slight. The younger turning slowly, timid blue drifting to his handsome face.
" I just want you to be safe, you know that right?" His freezing glare melting, dyed blonde bouncing with his head," I don't anything to happen to you."
" I know," hesitant hands taking hold of the older's," and I will be. I'm not a baby anymore, Jo. I'll be okay," Corbyn's grip barely tightened, lips curving up at him.
" You're my baby," Jonah's palm hot against his cheek, gently tracing milky skin.
" I know," giggle sweet, nuzzling into his hand," and if anything happens, I'll call. I promise."
The pad of Jonah's thumb following the ridges of his knuckles. An adoring smile accompanying his shaking head," okay. Just, don't do anything stupid," the larger's nose bumping lovingly against his own. Corbyn's laugh breathy, plump lips brushing the very corner of Jonah's mouth.
The air suddenly rattling. Struggling to carry the ringing honk of a speeding semi. And it was heading right for them.
The world itself seemed to move in slow motion. Gleaming light tracing every curve of the empty vehicle. The beauty of it almost haunting. Corbyn's jaws parting, throat opening to scream.
Jonah's seatbelt slapping the chair with a muffled thump. Knees slamming into the middle console, rushing adrenaline numbed him completely. One thing mattered and one thing only; he had to protect him.
Exploding air bags forcing them together, knocking what little air he had out. Searing pain burning the blood along his spine, gasping against Corbyn. The dashboard chasing the air bags.
The shattering windshield being the last thing he heard.
~ Two Days Later ~
A low groan tearing at his aching throat. Fluttering sapphires coated with shadows," J-Joan... ah."
" Corbyn! You're awake!" Heavy arms draping his body, screams echoing throughout his skull. Raspy moan low, barely able to shrink away.
" Joan... Jonah. W-whe-re... he? Wh-at h-happen-ed?"
" There was an awful crash. A semi ran a light and crashed into the front of the car. Thank God it was unloaded, but Jonah, he... he threw himself ontop of you." Her slow fingers swimming through messy blonde, shaking only slightly.
" Where... is he?" Fuzzy gaze drifting around the room. Fat pupils devouring all possible color.
" In another room, your father's with him. Baby, they don't... they don't think he'll make it." Those words hitting harder than any truck.
