Summary: Zach's sick of being babied, kinda. Sorta... maybe

Zach's POV
" I'll walk with you." The blonde's sweet voice floated from his phone's speakers, bouncing off the slick tile.

" You don't need too." I mused dismissively, focused on my unruly nest of brown.

" I don't want you walking by yourself. And besides, I want too." The few blocks between us hiding the subconscious roll of my eyes the sole reason it occurred.

" It's a fifteen minute walk, max. I don't need a chaperone, Bean." I argued softly, standing straight with a triumphant grin.

" I'm not your chaperone, I'm your boyfriend."

" My boyfriend that I don't need to walk me to school. I'm not six, Corbyn." I sighed, taking him off speaker before making my way toward my room.

" I didn't say you were. I just wanna walk with you, Baby boy." The device was wedged tightly between my cheek and shoulder as I leaned down to pull on my shoes.

" No. I'm gonna walk to school. Alone. And you're gonna get ready to leave to walk to school, also alone." I slung my backpack over my shoulder, noting his silence. I left my sleeping chamber, closing the door behind me.

" I'll see you there, okay? I love you. Bye."

" Love you, too. Bye, baby." I exited the house, upbeat music echoing in my ear canals.

A cold wind swept past, I nuzzled my face more into Daniel's hoodie, shaking slightly.

I strolled past Corbyn's turn, stopping as I spotted the larger boy walking towards me.

I paused my music, glaring half-heartedly at him." What did I tell you?" The whine in my voice was slight, but it still had him smirking.

" Good morning to you too," his chuckle evaporated into cool smoke, pecking my lips gently." And I never agreed to those terms and conditions."

" Bean, no. I can walk to school by myself." My arms crossed over my chest, barely pouting. He laughed, hugging my waist.

" I am fully aware."

" Then why are you here?" My attempt to pull away was weak, but not because I actually wanted him here. It was just cold and he was warm.

" So I can't just wanna walk with you?" His head tilt was cocky and smirk firm. He was reading me like an open book.

" No, because I don't need you."

" So... you only wanna be around me when you need me?" His words were slow, a single brow quirking north.

" What? No... I just... it's just...", A quiet laugh accompanied the affection sparkling in ice-blue.

" Tell you what; if you can think of one, genuine reason I can't walk you to school, I'll never do it again. How does that sound?" His lips curved into a teasing smile, nose bumping my own.

" I... I don't never want you to walk me." I didn't meet his gaze as I mumbled the words. I could almost see the glare of his bright grin. A part of me hating that I had lost.

" I assumed," he grabbed gently at my chin, kissing me sweetly." How about we get to school before we're late?" I sighed, leaning against him with a silent nod.

~ Two Days Later ~

" Zach, wait up!" I came to a reluctant stop as slim fingers laced through mine.
