Summary: Jonah gets really sick and his boys take care of him. He doesn't like that

Jonah's POV
" You're burning up, Babe," Zach's chocolate-brown shadowed with worry. Drifting over the thermometer. Knuckles pressing gently to my forehead.

" I... I'm fine," I choked on the words, throat throbbing, punishing me for my foolishness. My hands falling heavily on his hips. Giving a shaking smile," I... I don't even... feel that bad. Doctor said it should... last a week," almost wincing at the steady break of my voice. Unable to suppress a low groan, the jackhammer returning to drill through my skull.

" Oh, love," Zach's coo sickly sweet, lowering his voice. Gazing gently at me," is your head hurting again?"

I wanted to say no so bad. Tell him it was nothing. That I was fine and all because I hated the almost motherly tone his voice took on. But I only nodded, whimpering at the simple motion. Bad idea, no more nodding.

" I'll get you some tea and your medicine, alright? Just call me if you need me," pink lips brushing over my searing flesh.

I latched onto his wrist. Preventing him from leaving my lap," I can... do it," coming out in heavy pants rather than clear words.

Zach's lips curving, forming a soft, knowing smile. Laughing to himself while caressing my knuckles," I'm sure you could, Babe. But then why would I be here? The boys are already gone. I can't go with them, not anymore. Don't you think I should try and be useful since I'm here?" His tones wasn't patronizing. It was understanding. It was adoring.

" I guess so," his logic was sound enough to my slightly delirious mind. What did I have to argue?

His mouth warm against the back of my hand. Sending a few chills along my spine," I just want you to get better. Can you do that for me, Jonie?" His inky pupils dilating purposefully. Bottom hanging just a little, just enough for me to feel it.

Zach had read me like a book. How could I ever let him down? He needed me.

" Yeah... I can."

His glided from the room with a gentle expression. Leaving me alone in bed. Slowly realizing I had been played.

~ The Next Day ~

" Open up, Joan," the bitter reek of the cough medicine nearly made me grimace. Only stopping myself upon remembering that I was indeed, not a child.

So, I part my lips. Tongue flinching away from the almost sour tang of the cough medicine. The taste almost immediately worth it as the liquid got to work. Dulling the sandpaper lining my esophagus.

" I can feed myself, you know?" His shoulder firm against my forehead. The simple touch holding a silent promise. I wasn't mad. Never.

" I know, Jonah," Jack reaching past me for the plate holding my breakfast. Still releasing breathy chuckles as he settled.

My eyes drifting over the food. Suspicion lingering in my hopeful gaze," don't worry. Dan made it. Bean and Z weren't allowed in the kitchen."

The silver teeth of the fork piercing through a few bits of egg. Jack relaxing more against my thighs, holding the utensil up. The warm steam wafting from the food filtering into my nostrils. Saliva pooling beneath my tongue.

" Come on, open up," I barely pulled away. Gazing up at him, not fully sure of my expression. It had Jack softening regardless, cooing to me.

" Baby, please. I helped Dani make it. I really want you to try it," his head tilting down. Slowly looking up through thick, dark lashes. Big, round eyes glistening, pretty brown shining in the light. Lip barely tucked between his teeth. He truly looked hurt by my refusal. For a second I feared he really was.
