This was an accident.

Summary: " And if the sky falls I'll catch it. Just to steal you a star."Zach's POV
" What are we doing again?" Daniel asked, looking over to his best friend. Zach rolled his brown eyes fondly." Like I told you 10 minutes ago, we're going to catch a star." He tugged gently at Pickle's reins, the horse slowing to a trot with a soft, annoyed huff. Daniel caught up, gaze directed ahead.
" Why are we catching a star?" The royal musician wondered," I wanna give it to Bean as a... promise ring of sorts." He smiled wistfully at the thought of the young prince.
" Why not just get him an omni-gem? Those are worth a lot more," Zach shook his head," he may be a royal, but Corbyn isn't into all that flashy, expensive stuff. They may not be worth as much money, but I know Bean would love it." The brunette insisted.
" It'll be a promise. A promise that I'll love him as long as the stars shine." Daniel laughed softly, running his fingers through Cello's white mane.
" Gods, that is so cheesy," he chuckled, Zach pouting at him," but if you really wanna catch a star I'll help. Anything for you, Zachy." He cooed, wrapping an arm around the smaller.
" Thanks, Dani."
~ About 20 Minutes Later ~
The pound of rhythmatic galloping filled the air as two stallions raced forward, side by side. One of pale brown fur and white splotches. And the other a chocolate brown with softer markings. Their owners pressed against their saddles as they neared a cliff.
Zach tapped Pickle's side with his boot, the horse picking up speed and leaving Cello behind. He dove off the egde, his rider wrapping his arms tighter around his neck. Daniel pulled softly at Cello's reins. The bi-colored steed coming to a reluctant stop and was almost thrown backward as a mighty dragon soared up.
Powerful wings beating the air as his owner laughed, his beast hovering by the edge." Sorry, did we scare you?" Zach teased, Pickle letting out a puff of smoke from his muzzle. Cello reared up on his hind legs, neighing furiously.
" Zach, you asshole!" Daniel shouted, glaring at the knight," takes one to know one." He teased, sticking his tongue out at him. Daniel growled under his breath and nuzzling his boot into his horse's side. Cello scraped his black hoof against the grass before he took off.
He charged up to the egde of precipice and lept into the air. Daniel pressed flat against his back and whistled in his ear. The mammal shifted instantly, turning into a mighty reptile.
He tucked his wings against his sides and straightened his body. He descended quickly, the sea beneath coming closer and closer. Daniel tapped the left-side of his neck and Cello opened his wings. Waves the size of walls formed on either side of him as the scaled creature soared up.
Once he had picked up some speed he began to corkscrew, tucking his wings after a few twists. Daniel caught a glimpse of Zach and Pickle, both failing to hide the awe on their faces. He threw his wings open, causing a strong gust of wind. The brown beast was quick to respond, flapping a little harder and glaring at Cello. Who simply stuck a forked tongue out at him.
" Show off," Zach muttered, gliding to his side," you're just mad we're better." The older shrugged, his dragon holding his head a little higher. Pickle bumped his head into his neck, letting out a soft bellow.
" You wish," Zach laughed, watching the two lizards," you don't wish for something that's already real." He countered gently, smiling at the small brunette. Said brunette rolled his eyes, giggling quietly.
" Yeah, okay. Whatever you say."
~ Time Skip ~
A gentle breeze carried their dragons through the air. Their riders looking for any sign of the rift.
" There," Daniel pointed ahead of them, in the distance there was a massive storm forming and you could just barely see the crack in the sky.
" We better hurry, if the stars start falling before we get there we'll miss it." Zach informed, his partner nodding," let's go."
~ Half An Hour Later ~
The beat of mighty wings was drowned out by the booming thunder as they enter the storm. Both dragons had their spines extended, ready to catch any sudden rise in temperature. Zach and Daniel were both searching for light, knowing stars glowed like miniature suns, even after falling.
" I'm gonna go a little ahead!" Daniel yelled over the rushing winds.
" Okay! Just be careful!" Zach couldn't help, but worry. Even for experienced riders like them, storms were dangerous and more often than not, deadly.
He watched Cello flap his huge wings with all his might, pushing against the rain. Just as he began to lose sight of the pair, the splotched dragon let out a loud roar. And Zach could see the sparkling white in his master's hands. Stars cooled as the left the heated sky and neared Earth, making it perfectly safe for humans to grab them without protection.
" Zach! I found one!" Daniel cried, his best friend grinning," good! Fly back and we ca-DANI WATCH OUT!" He shouted as loud as he could. Pickle's deep roar shaking his throat, but it was too late. Zach watched helplessly as lightning struck him. Cello managing to bring his wings up in time to shield most of his body. The mighty lizard shook violently before he went limp. The star falling from his owner's hand.
" Pickle! Get the star, I'll catch Dani and wake up Cello," the dragon bellowed, shaking his huge head. Big, bright yellow pools dark.
" Don't worry about me. Just get the star, okay?" He added softly, rubbing between his eyes. He huffed, but nodded. Zach jumped off of him and dove toward his unconscious companions. He reached out as far as he could, grabbing tightly onto Daniel's hand and pulling him into his chest.
" Cello!" He screamed, slowly making his way to the dragon," damn it, come on. Cello!" Daniel's ocean orbs slowly opened and he groaned quietly.
" Why are you yelling?" He whined, burying his face into Zach's neck.
" Call for Cello. He might wake up if he hears you," the younger explained quickly, Daniel finally looked up. Eyes going wide as he stared at the steadily approaching sea.
" CELLO!" He cried, green eyes shot open, locking with Daniel's," Cello, help!" He hugged his friend tighter as the splashed into the ocean. The cold water sending both into shock. The large reptile kicked his feet viciously, wings flapping as he tried to get to them.
He finally managed to grab both in his talons. Holding them as gently as possible he swam up, breaking the surface and shooting up into the air. Pickle bellowed in happiness, flying below the other to catch the dripping boys.
" P-Pickle, did y-you ge-t the st-star?" Zach shivered, his mount showed his the small, crystal-like sphere in his claws." G-good. N-now let-s g-g-get back to t-the castle. I-I'm fre-ezing." Daniel complained, pulling Zach in close. The smaller, brown-eyed boy nuzzled his pink face into his neck.
" I c-couldn't ag-agree more. P-Pick-le, take u-us to the castle," Daniel whistled for Cello who was at Pickle's side in seconds. The sun reflecting off his wet scales. The ride was gentle, both boys snuggling into the blanket Zach had in his saddle bag. Pickle only flapped his wings on occasion and Cello entertained himself by flying circles around the older dragon and chasing birds.
