My heart is singing! Can you hear it? Because you what I still do? Love this God damn group! After two terrible songs, finally, finally, my prayers have been answered. I love I Still Do. This is the only other song beside Big Plans that I adore. Cold in LA and Don't Change were average, not bad, but not great. This song is great and here's why.

1. Vocals
They're beautiful. Their voices are so light and airy, like the best potato chip. The over-lap effect during the pre-chorus and chorus are a really nice touch. The pacing is perfect and feels natural, it's too fast or slow. They drag out all the right words for the right amount of time. Just as you start to get sick of it, it's on to the next one.

Lastly, I really did enjoy Jack's high note (if you wanna call it that). It's by far the best one of any of this year's songs. I never noticed how much making your voice waver as you sing a higher note helps. It feels a lot more like singing and less like screaming. Since, when you scream it's about the same pitch and only changes at the very beginning and when you stop.

I am conflicted when it comes to the verses. Jonah's (the first one) is really good, you know exactly what he's singing about without him having to actually say a few key words. I do hate the copy-cat in the background though, it's very annoying. I love the way Daniel sings the second one, but I feel like they were trying to cram too much story into too little time. He's says too much. I enjoy everything else though, the verses are just kinda iffy, but nothing's perfect.

2. Originality
No. This song is not original. That's not what I'm about to talk about. Instead, I'll explain why this worked and the other two didn't.

The idea of regretting ending something is very common and has been done in similar ways to this. Some of my personal favorites are Let me go by Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso, Happier by Ed Sheeran, and Happier by Marshmello, but this song sounds nothing like those. Ed's has a much softer feel to it, from the beat to the vocals. Marshmello's is faster paced, more aggressive, and is clearly showing off it's techno-like beat. Hailee's is also very beat-centric, but is more of a medium pacing.

I Still Do is in a way like all of them. It's slow when it wants to be, isn't too centered around its beat. And while not as soft as Ed's, is still very gentle on your ears.

The moral of the story. This is much more Why Don't We. Done, but different.

3. Message
I've always loved this theme in music or really anything. When you chose to put their happiness and well-being before your own. Because let's face it, humans are selfish. It's in our nature. And it does take genuine effort to fight against that instinct, some more than others, depending on your personality.

It's so easy to place blame on the other person, but let's be honest. Relationships aren't (and healthy ones can't be) one sided. Even if they fail, both people had to make the decision to give up. I'm not saying it's the bad one, some things do need to end, I'm just saying that it takes two tango. While both parties are not equally responsible, one was most likely worse than the other, they are still both responsible for what happened. And for one of them to own up to their mistakes takes heart and always makes mine happy.

4. Beat
The beat isn't over powering. It blends perfectly with the soft vocals. It's simple, but still complex enough to interest you. It's easy to nod your head to, but still calm enough to relax you. I don't have much else to say, it's just really good.

Overall, the song isn't perfect, but I love it. It was more than I could've hoped for after the train-wrecks of 5/12 and 6/12. This has given me genuine hope for what the August song has to offer.

Bye everyone! See you in about a mouth!
