Summary: Just a chilly December night spent staring at the sky

Third Person POV
" Corbyn, it's so late," Jonah mumbled, limp body dangling as Corbyn pulling him from the warmth of his blankets.

" I know, but this is the only time it's dark enough to see the stars."

" You woke me up for stargazing? I'm going back bed," Daniel muttered, turning to leave only to be stopped by Corbyn's fingers encircling his wrist.

" Dan, wait, please don't go," Daniel stopped dead at his tone. The soft plea tugging at his heart in all the right ways.

" Corbyn, it's late. It's cold. And you want us to sit outside and stare at the sky?" Jonah's blunt words laced with irritation. Far too tired to care about hurting Corbyn feelings.

" Well... y-yeah," Corbyn's voice going quiet, hold on his bandmates loosening. Casting his dark gaze to ground. Unable to help thinking of how stupid his idea was when Jonah said it like that.

One glance at his dejected friend and Daniel was sighing. God, he really couldn't tell this kid no," fine, fine. Half an hour, Corbyn. Thirty minutes. Okay?"

But when Corbyn's pretty ice-blue gems lit up like a kid on Christmas, Daniel found he didn't have the strength to stay mad at him.

" Really?"

" Come on before I change my mind," the youngest grumbled, leading the way out of the open window and dragging the older boys with him.

The roof's rough tile covered in a thick, plush baby blue blanket with three pillows lined up along its edge, each with a smaller cover rolled up beside it.

Jonah softened helplessly. Corbyn had done all this without even knowing if they would join him. And suddenly the thought of his earlier words and of making the blonde sit up here all alone made his stomach clench.

Corbyn was quiet. The dusting of pink over his pale cheeks clear in the Moon's cold glow.

He moved to the makeshift bed and sat in the middle, patting the spaces beside him quietly. Even with his eyes casted away, the lingering shine of hope was clear as day.

Jonah sat on the side closest to the still cracked window, while Daniel moved around to the other side.

Corbyn slowly slipped down the cover and was the first to lay down fully. Jonah met Daniel's ocean-blue shortly before lowering down beside Corbyn. Daniel following suit, shifting a little to get comfortable.

The warmth of their bandmates was comforting in the night's nipping chill. Warding off the cold with relative ease. As each slowly, but surely relaxed completely against the roof.

" Alright, Corbone," Daniel's cheek pressing to his pillow as he turned to the older. Almost flinching when Corbyn doing the same caused their noses brushed," you woke us up and brought us all the way to the roof. You better have some damn good stories to tell."

His words made Corbyn grin, pink cheeks squishing happily at the simple fact that Daniel wanted to hear a story. He was quick to look back up, frozen ords swimming carefully through the inky sea.

" Okay... ummmm... there," his index slowly moving through the stars. Tracing a shape while two pairs of blue followed the calculated movements.

The shape was something like a t with sharp breaks on both arms and a slight kink in its tail.

" That's Cygnus. It's the Greek word for swan," Corbyn explained while letting his hand fall. Choosing to ignore how it landed atop Jonah's.

" What's his story?" The eldest wondered lowly. Carefully entwining their fingers, liking the soft warmth of Corbyn's palm.

" It's actually really sweet. There are a few stories about Cygnus, but my favorite it the one about Phaethon. Phaethon was the son of Helios, who was the Sun god. Helios was thought to pull the Sun across the sky with a chariot," he began. Insuring his bandmates knew everything, but careful with the words he chose.

Daniel watched silently, smiling gently at the way the stars left his eyes twinkling. The way milky light bathed his soft, handsome face. Leaving his flushed skin glowing in the dark night.

Jonah, on the other hand, stared up. Letting Corbyn's quiet, confident words flutter around him and lull him into something between asleep and awake as he studied the shimmer of each little speck of light. Watching the few clouds drift past, doing little to quell their fire.

" Phaethon demanded to ride his father's Sun chariot for a day. However, he couldn't control it, so Zeus had to destroy the chariot and Phaethon with it using a thunderbolt before the Sun crashed into the Earth. It plummeted to the ground into the river, Eridanus. Cygnus, Phaethon's lover, grieved for a long time. He spent days diving into the river to collect Phaethon's bones just so he could have a proper burial. The gods were so touched by Cygnus's devotion that they turned him into a swan and placed him among the stars."

" That's so sweet. Why a swan though?" Jonah mused.

" Because Cygnus is the Greek word for swan, Joan. Keep up, man," Daniel scolded past Corbyn. Who giggle softly at the two.

Jonah's hands shot up. Bringing Corbyn's along for the quick ascent," alright, bro. My bad," he chuckled low, free hand tucking behind his head. His thumb beginning to trace absent, nonsensical patterns into the back of Corbyn's hands. Leaving his skin burning pleasantly.

They fell into a comfortable silence. The only movement was Daniel as he tossed his blanket over them.

Corbyn relished in it, in everything. In having them so close, in just having them here. In the heat of their bodies. The beautiful shine of the night.

He relished in knowing they wanted to be here with him, because he knew for a fact the thirty minutes had passed long ago.

A cautious arm slipped around him, Daniel pulling him closer. Corbyn twisting to rest his head on the younger's strong chest," tell us another?" Spoken low, body rumbling with it as his fingers tucked away into frosty blonde locks.

" Well... you can't see it up there, but one of my favorites is the story of the Gemini," Corbyn absolutely melted into his bandmate. Wishing he could somehow hug him back without having to let go of Jonah. So, he nuzzled his cheek against his peck instead, liking the thump of his beating heart.

" Okay, so, the Gemini constellation is of two brothers, Castor and Pollux. And all you really need to know is that Pollux is one of Zeus's son because their mom cheated and Castor was a mortal. This meant Castor would die eventually, since he wasn't a god. And when it did finally happen, Pollux begged Zeus to bring Castor back and somehow make him immortal so Pollux wouldn't have to lose him. So, Zeus put them together in stars. That way they would never have say goodbye."

" Why's that one of your favorites?" Daniel whispered. Jonah's breath soft against the back of his head. The eldest having curled around his back long ago, holding his waist gently with their hands resting on Daniel's thigh.

" Because," Corbyn took a second to think. Mind numb from their intoxicating warmth. Desperate to find the proper words to explain.

" Because... one day, I hope someone'll love me enough to want to spend all of eternity together."

He hid away in Daniel neck as the words left his lips. Feeling Jonah squeeze his hand and hips while Daniel turned to pressed his cheek to Corbyn's face.

There were no more words spoken for the rest of that starry night. There was nothing else to say, nothing that needed to be said.

The silence on the wind, the beating of their hearts, and the whispers of their breath said more than any of them ever could.
