The next day was supposed to be the execution day. It had a pretty elaborated process behind it and it rolled by strict rules. A stage was built at the tracks. The looser had to be dragged on the stage by the winner -imagine the pain of having to do that to your friend- and the leader had to shoot and kill the looser with one bullet to the head. Pity that they've chosen my favourite way of shooting. The 'event' has already been planned out but I had a plan, like I always do.
"Morning, sunshine!" I said as I came downstairs and found Reece waking up on the sofa in the living room. "How'd you sleep?" I added taking a seat next to him on the couch. "Morning to you too, baby. And yeah, I slept good considering that I'm not getting killed anymore today." he said. "Please don't remind me of that." I said pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "Anyway, I have a plan for today since the ceremony still has to happen. No one will get hurt, I promise." I added, leaning back on the sofa, resting my head on his shoulder. "So, what's your plan, honey?" he asked me. "Well, get ready, because it's a lot." I said. "It's always a lot when it comes to you, my dear." he told me. He was so sweet to me, how could I not love him? How have I been so fucking blind all that time? I couldn't even believe I used to hate him. I couldn't believe I once tried to kill him and now I saved his life.
"Alright, so, listen here. Things are gonna go just like they should've gone. George is gonna drag you on the stage and the whole shebang. From there, you'll see. Do you trust me?" I told him. "I've always trusted you." he said, taking my hand in his and running his thumb over my knuckles.
Hours went by and we had to head to the tracks. Everything went according to plan: George took Reece with him, Me and Blake drove to the tracks. The so-called ceremony started but instead of having the leader walk on stage, I walked out. I took the mic and began my speech, while Reece was looking at me confused. His face was so adorable.
"We gathered all here for one reason. Today was supposed to mean the end of a life but that isn't happening anymore. From now on no more killings between gang members will happen. That barbaric tradition is over. Once and for all." I said. "Starting today I'd like to introduce to you our gang's new leader: Reece Bibby." I added. Reece was even more confused now. "What the fuck, Freya?" he said through his teeth. "This was not what we were supposed to do Freya. You were supposed to take over not me." he said quietly. "You deserve this. I believe in you. You are going to do an amazing job." I assured him. He then went on and improved an entire speech, biting back his nerves. This guy lived emotions like no one else. The intensity that he lived every feeling with was undoubtedly incredible. He finally got what he deserved and I was proud of him and of myself for making it possible.
