Blake's POV

While everyone was happy and celebrating Freya and Reece's engagement, I was looking at my phone, worried for Lexi. Since she got out of rehab I felt like I had to take care of her. I felt guilty for what she had done so I decided that it was the least I could do for her. Somehow I managed to mend the relationship with her uncle and mother and now they are fine with me being around her, especially that they know I only want what's best for her. She stood in rehab for about a month and during that time she has been diagnosed with some mental issues including bipolar disorder and IED which meant only one thing: dealing with her wasn't going to be easy.
I must admit I never really loved her but I did feel something for her. I don't know if it was friendly affection or just plain pity. I did indeed feel like it was my responsibility to help her through these dark times. Thankfully she was visibly feeling better and better. She hasn't completely quit taking any addictive substances though. She had started smoking normal cigarettes instead of taking drugs which was indeed an improvement. Every day I'd go by her place and spend time with her, maybe even more time than when we were together. Now more than ever her company was pleasing. She'd call me in the middle of the night telling me that she wants to take a dose again but I talk her out of it every time. I sometimes even brought her food  when she was home alone for days.
"What's on your mind, mate? You look proper sad." said someone as I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around only to see George. The same old George that left his best pal to get murdered. I couldn't have forgiven him. "What do you want, asshole?" I asked him pissed off. "Calm down. I just want to talk." he said very calm and genuine. "What about?" I asked him. "Lilly." he said looking down. "I know you killed her and I'm not mad at you because you had a pretty good reason to do it." he said. I rolled my eyes at him. "But I want to explain why I cared so much about her. Maybe more than about Kev."he added. "Okay, go on, I'm listening." I told him. "She was pregnant, Blake! With my child!" he exclaimed. "Wha-" I was speechless. He did have a good reason to let Kev die. He was really willing to sacrifice his best mate for his child. "I wanted to tell you before you went after her but it was too late." he said, a tear running down his face. "That... That means... That means that I killed two people? Am innocent future child? Your future child? This can't be possible." I said starting to cry. "I'm a horrible person! I should be the one dead, not them!" I exclaimed punching the table and standing up. I wanted to run to the bathroom so I could cry in peace but I ran into Freya. "Hey, what's wrong, cousin?" she asked kindly, smiling. Her smile vanished from her face and a frown took its place when she noticed my tears. "What is it?" she asked again, holding my hands. "I... I... killed the wrong person." I said sobbing. "What? Who?" she asked confused. "Lilly... was... pregnant... with George's child..." I hardly managed to say. "What?!" she exclaimed. "I killed a future mum and her child. Our friend's child. He was willing to sacrifice Kev for that child!" I exclaimed properly crying. "I'm the worst..." I said as she dragged me into her arms. "You only try to do what's best." she tried to comfort me as she was rubbing my back gently. "You wanted to do something good... and failed... but you tried to be good. You always try to be good." she added. "But I'm not good. I'm horrible." I told her. "You're not. You're a kind soul hiding behind a bad guy persona." she said as she wiped away my tears. "You should better go home or go spend some time with Lexi. She needs you now more than ever." she told me as she eventually let go of my hands. "I'll get you someone to take you there. You can't drive in this condition." she said as she gave me one last time. "Take care, cousin!" she said as she left to get back to her guests. "You too, little bitch!" I told her forcing a smile.
