"So you think you can just show up at my house and ask for explanation?" she shouted at me. Obviously, it was the illness speaking, not her. She would never talk like that to me without a proper reason.
I felt like I needed to confront her in order to find out whether she knew what her uncle did or not. Looked like she didn't.
"My uncle and mum are going to be here any moment so you better vanish before they'll see you!" she said trying to push me out the door.
"Oh, honey, I'm not going anywhere. I'm not afraid of that bastard. Not anymore." I said standing in front of the door, so still that she couldn't move me at all.
"Fine, but if you'll get killed, it's not going to be my fault." she said leaving to her room.
Seconds later I heard the key being inserted in the deadbolt. "Shit, they're here." I said to myself. The lights were off and it was already quite dark so you couldn't see much inside. When the door finally opened, Lexi's mum walked in first and called out her name.
"Lexi, we're home!" she said as Adrian followed up behind her and reached for the switch to turn on the lights. I was sitting on the sofa, half facing the front door as he locked his eyes on me.
"Hello, Adrian. Good to see you." I said sarcastically yet kind of aggressive.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" he said already reaching for his gun, attached to his belt.
"Calm down, no need for that - I said holding out my hand to stop him from grabbing the gun. - I'm just here to talk." I said again, not very true to my words.
"Talk about what, young man? Are you shagging my niece again?" he said visibly willing to grab my neck at throw me out of his house.
"No, actually, I'm not. I've just taken care of her while you were away because I am well aware that she's in this state of mind because of me." I said, being honest this time.
"That's so nice of you." said her mum from the kitchen.
"Shut up, Maddie!" he screamed at her. That was the last thing the poor woman deserved but I had no say in that. "What do you want to talk about, then?" he asked calmly. But he wasn't calm. It was like the 'calm before the storm' kind of calm. I had to calculate my every move carefully not to trigger the world's biggest thunderstorm upon me.
"Actually, I'm here to talk about the events that went down on the damned date of 14th of May 2010." I said with a straight face.
"You son of a bitch!" he said wanting to slap me, but I grabbed his wrist.
"I said we're doing this calmly, Adrian." I told him twisting his wrist slowly.
"That's Mr. Bishop to you!" he said trying to imply his authority over me. It didn't work.
"Whatever Mr. I Killed Your Parents In Cold Blood And Have No Remorse For It." I said with one breath. "I'd like you to give me a good damn reason for which I shouldn't kill you right now, the same way as you did with my parents." I told him with an aura of superiority that I knew he was about to blow away in seconds.
"Too bad. I have no reasons to give. I was hired to do it and I did it. End of discussion. Now get the fuck out of my house!" he said pulling his hand away from my grip.
"I'm not done with you though!" I said slamming the front door after me.
As I got to my car I looked up to Lexi's window and saw that she was watching me. I've taken my eyes away from her and climbed into the driver's seat and I drove as far away as possible from that goddamned house of nightmares.
