chapter fifty five

I watched Liam's body fall to the ground helplessly as Theo collapsed on top of him. The bullet went straight into his chest and there was no way of saving him. He sacrificed himself for the only person that he ever loved and he died in her arms.
"I... love...you..." were his last words that he barely managed to whisper to her.
"I love you too. I always did." she said as she closed his eyes. She let out an outraged scream as she pulled out her gun and aimed relentlessly for the people that shot Liam. The bullets were flying from her gun like aeroplanes that had an exact destination. Every once in a while deadly exclaims were heard when her bullets hit the targets. Everybody was having their own fight as I noticed Adrian trying to run away. I grabbed his shirt as he wanted to get into his car and pulled him away.
"Going somewhere?" I said imitating him. I took my gun out at put it to his temple. "I'm done with you, once and for all. I said as I fired a bullet straight through his skull, leaving his body lifeless. "This was for killing my parents." I said. I dropped his body to the ground and climbed into the driver's seat of his car. "Everybody, get in!" I shouted and they all ran towards the car. Once everyone got in, I turned it around and sped to the path that was leading to our cars. Richard and Nicole were leaning out the windows of the back of the car and shooting at what was left of Adrian's people. Theo was in the passenger seat next to me, crying. Scarlet was in the back between her parents helping them switch guns when necessary. For a second my mind went blank and only one memory came back: Freya telling me "no more funerals". I failed her once again. What was worse that we couldn't even have a funeral for Liam since we didn't have time to take his body with us. He died an honourable death. A sacrifice. "We shall always sacrifice ourselves for the ones we love." like my mother used to say.
