Reece's POV

After I dropped George off at his place safely I got a call from Richard. "We've got work, Reece." he told me. Even though technically, I was the leader he was still the one that gave out missions and tasks. My job was mostly keeping peace within the gang and managing our relationships with the law and other gangs, such as The Bishops. I was more of a representative rather than a leader but I didn't mind it. Richard has been through more in his life than I'll ever been so he knows exactly how to run a business like this. "Alright, old man, tell me what are they?" I asked putting the phone on speaker as I was driving. "Numerous cases of violence have been reported to the police lately. I've talked to the local chief police officer and he told me about some possible suspects. He also let me know that they are too dangerous for the law to step in considering that most of these cases ended up in murder." he told me. "Alright, we'll have a meeting tonight and you'll tell me more about this thing there." I said. "Okay then, see you tonight."
When I got home I told Freya everything that Richard has told me and she helped me message all the members about the meeting. The evening came faster that I expected so we headed to the mansion. By 7:10pm everybody was there and we were ready to start. Before the actual meeting had started Richard told me some more things about the cases that we were going to look into. "Look, son, we're getting into this mess for one reason: these other mobsters have been onto my family for ages. The recent violence and crimes were committed because that's how they earn their existence. They beat up and kill people for properties and money. Most of them are just little pawn in their bosses' games. There are a couple of well known business men that own almost half of the companies in our area that like to call themselves The All-Owners. All they want is to trick poorer people into selling them their properties for high prices that are actually traps." he told me. "And why on earth would they be onto you?" I asked confused and overwhelmed with information. "I own two fields outside our town. The second biggest of The All-Owners has already bought almost every land around mine and is willing to build a new neighbourhood of expensive houses. The main reason I'm refusing to sell mine is because half of it is forest and that means they'll cut it to the ground and I can't have that." he said very seriously. Richard was indeed a man with a heart of gold. "So what are we supposed to do?" I asked. "They threatened me that if I won't sell my land they're going to start murdering my family one by one, starting with my children." he said. Our old man loved nothing more than his two daughters: 25 years old Scarlet, who was part of the inner circle and 16 years old Theo, who was still newbie of the gang.
The both of us went into the meeting room and assigned everyone their tasks. We had to hold off The All-Owners from continuing the violence and to protect Richard's family as well. Protecting our old man's family was a duty according to our first law: 'Always protect your fellow members.'
"First of all: Alex, you'll be taking care of Scarlet. This means you'll have to watch her every step and always be there with her." I said. "But, dad, I can take care of myself!" Scarlet protested. "No buts, Scarlet! You heard Reece. You need backup and Alex is the perfect match." said Richard firmly. "Next: Liam, you'll be watching over Theo." I told him. "I know you like her so this won't be a burden for you." I whispered to him. "Shut up, Reece! She might hear you." he whispered back, blushing. "I'm fine with that." said Theo as she looked over to Liam, smiling. "Okay, on a more serious note: Mike and Jack, you two are going to keep watch of the northern neighbourhood." I said. "Got it, boss." they said, ready to work on their task. In the south I want some of our best so I've been thinking of Nicole and Dallon but I'm not very sure." I said. "I'm not afraid of going out there." said Nicole. "Always fight for your people. Law 5" she said sure of herself. "I'll have her back in need." stated Dallon surely. "You better have!" exclaimed Richard. I continued assigning people to certain areas and finally got to my people. "Blake, you are going to take Mike and try to spy on the mobsters and find out.. as much as you can. I know I can trust you with this." I told them. If only I knew what was this going to lead to...
