"I'm sorry for over reacting just now K. Let's just have a great time." I say to him. "Alex, you don't have to apologise. Now, let's go in and get this old people's party started." he says and exits the car to open my door for me. I hold his hand tight and give him a small kiss on the cheek before we walk up the stairs to Mayor Rodfon's house.

"You know, I'd think you'd be pretty nervous coming here." he says to me. "I was, but it disappeared when you came into my room. As long as you're there I feel safe." "Good, I want you to be." he says and we enter the house with bright smiles. The house looks amazing. Posh, sophisticated and white. The chandeliers were glimmering and the champagne bottles were everywhere.

When we get in, the waiter immediately serves us both a glass in very fine crystal wear. We continue walking through the crowd of adults who were all also fancied up for the occasion. Most of them wore heavy jewellery and dresses too expensive for me to even think of. Their make-up was light, but it only accentuated their beauty.

"Hey, you know, of all this middle-aged women, you look the finest."

"You already told me that just now K..." I hide my smile.

"Well, if the truth is there, why not brag about it?" he says and kisses me on the cheek. A man behind us, suddenly clears his throat and I feel shy as we turn around to meet Mayor Rodfon himself. "Caivanial. How nice of you to come. And you've brought Alexandra." "Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you Mayor." he says with his hand gestured out. "Nice to meet you too sir. Thank you for inviting us." "Yes, my son would be here, but I last heard that he ran off." the Mayor says.

Aiden. Aiden Rodfon. The images from prom were flooding my mind now. How he grabbed me and threatened to kill me. I was glad he ran off, but it would've been better if he were dead. I do have sympathy for Mayor Rodfon though, Aiden was his only son.

"I am sorry that he left. He was...good." I trail off. "Well, what's done is done. I only hope he's in a better place." the Mayor says.

"Well I don't want to keep you away from the fun. Enjoy yourselves." he says and leaves Caivanial and I together. "He's nice. Better than Aiden." "Really? I don't think so." Caivanial says. "Why? How does he even know you?" I ask.

He starts to walk off then and I realise he doesn't want to tell me. "He's my father's friend. They work together. Mayor Rodfon has somewhat of a business deal with my father."

"What business deal can a mayor and a preacher have?"

"I don't know. It's probably security for me I guess." "Oh like funds to keep you safe or something?" "I don't know X. My father's like me, secretive..." he says. "Nevermind K. I'm just happy you told me something." I say. "So you want to dance?" "It'll be my pleasure." he says and drags me into his arms onto the dance floor.

He grabs my hips and holds my arms while we dance to the tune of the music.

They'd specially got the funky hip hop kind of music for us senior students which caused most of the adults to refrain from the dance floor.

It was nice though to see Caivanial dance. He had solid moves that I felt out of place with his retrograde style, especially when he did a handstand in mid-air and flipped up to land on his feet—the crowd went wild.

He seemed relax and I was glad he was having a brilliant time, but when he sees me step out, he brings me back in with a twirl. Our bodies touch so forcefully that my exhale was sharp enough to kill. "Where were you going?" he asks in the most sultry way possible and twirls me in and out of his arms. "I thought I'd give you space..."

"Then there won't be a point in me clashing into you and maybe accidentally kissing you." My eyes close shut when I feel his touch on my bare skin. The tiny impeccable sensations were so disturbing, yet so good.
